Total world military expenditure rose to $1822 billion in 2018, representing an increase of 2.6 per cent from last year- new data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute on the 29th. The US increased the number of advanced fighters in order to maintain its superior military capabilities, where its military spending remained by far the largest spender in the world. China is the second-largest spender. The arms competition between the US and China is the main cause of the rise in global military expenditure.
