US President Donald Trump uses a number of tactics – including empty words, misleading spectacles and ‘gaslighting’ – as part of his arsenal
Thomas Jefferson once declared that "democracy is built on the people's distrust of the government." Democracy certainly cannot hope to rely on the goodwill of national state leaders to survive. The people often tend to be lazy, placing their trust in their leaders; this is thinking based on 18th-century feudal ideology which is not in accordance with the spirit of the rule of law in the 21st century.
