US President Donald Trump withdrew his country from the Trans-Pacific Partnership Monday, abandoning a US stake in the expansive free trade agreement involving Japan and 10 other nations aimed at countering China’s increasing economic clout
The US and Japan should put their support behind Taiwan's efforts to carry out constitutional reform, which are designed to bring about greater democracy and freedom by attracting the 1.4 billion people of China to seek democratization. Democracies worldwide should recognize Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia lighting the way to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
