Buckle up, Korea: Presidency may hinge on three votes in 60 days
As early as next month, South Korea's Constitutional Court may rule on whether to uphold the impeachment of suspended President Park Geun-hye. If it does, it will trigger an election to replace her within 60 days.
Absolute power leads to absolute corruption. The presidential system is a form of democracy that has a number of fatal flaws, and even the US has its problems. South Korea's constitution should be changed to install a semi-presidential system, and the presidency should be declared to be above party politics. The heads of the judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected, and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year.
