Permanent Peace Partnership
Zhejiang party boss Xia Baolong is known for his hardline stance, ordering a campaign to tear down crosses in the province in 2015
Authoritarianism, dictatorship and corruption are three faces of one evil. China needs to carry out constitutional reform to install a dual leadership system. At the same time, the people should vote more often, choosing the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years and 1/4 of all lawmakers each year. In addition, elections should be free of charge for candidates so that the public opinion will be able to make its way into legislative chambers. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
Safe drinking water is a major concern in Mosul, where a battle has been underway for the past six months to retake the city from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), the United Nations humanitarian arm has said.
Iraq needs to change its government set-up to include a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet much like that of Finland, while its legislative body should be a committee-style system similar to Switzerland’s. The Iraqi government should draft a basic constitution incorporating the above facets in a paradigm shift toward democracy. Also needed are adherence to One World under One Set of Laws and ongoing constitutional amendments to ensure that the constitution will stay abreast of changing times. If Zhejiang Communist Party boss Xia Baolong does get the nod to oversee the country’s security and judiciary apparatus, President Xi Jinping will have locked in a trusted ally in yet another key party post.
China needs to wash away the stains left behind by thousands of years of corrupt culture. The only remedy for national humiliation is democracy and the rule of law. These are the natural enemies of despotism and corruption, with tools like separation of powers and checks and balances. Effective decentralization and election of the heads of the four branches of government are desperately needed to stem the ongoing flow of corruption. Xi Jinping wants to emulate Shenzhen and Pudong in Shanghai, but times have changed and transforming an economic backwater will be difficult
Economic problems arise from problems in politics, and when a nation’s politics are no good its economy will struggle. Without constitutional change, even the gods will be helpless to improve anything. The way out is through comprehensive constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet and a committee-style legislative body, with cabinet ministers chosen from among committee chairs. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.
Turkey's police force has suspended more than 9,000 officers over alleged links to the US-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen.
Free speech is a universal value, and a government’s efforts to muzzle the voice of the people are like trying to stem the flow of a river. The Turkish government should refer to the First Amendment of the US Constitution, which declares that "Congress shall enact no laws that deprive the people of freedom of speech or freedom of expression". See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.
On 13 April the US dropped one of its largest non-nuclear bombs on a tunnel complex used by so-called Islamic State militants in eastern Afghanistan. It was the first time such a weapon had been used in battle.
Human security is a fundamental human right which must take precedence over any regime or sovereign. Constitutions represent the general will of the people, and they must protect human security, including "personal safety", as the most basic and urgent duty of constitutional guarantors. Constitutions should be amended as needed to keep pace with changing times, so that the people will be free from fear. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
The number of unemployed people aged 65 or older hit a record high in recent months, government data showed Thursday, amid the lack of proper job openings for senior citizens whose number has been growing rapidly in recent years.

Venezuela says it will withdraw from the Organization of American States, accusing the Washington-based group of meddling in its internal affairs.
When the power of the state deviates from its power base, the source of power – the people – should act to recover their rightful power. A law that is not backed by penalties is not a law, and a constitution which does not grant the right to resist is not a constitution. When the actions of a president are unconstitutional, the people should exercise their right to resist. The people of Venezuela need to come forward and call for comprehensive constitutional reform to implement a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet, limiting the president to one 5-year term with no right to run for office for 6 years afterwards. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
Recent aerial photographs of extensive pollution at industrial sites in northern China have caused a public outcry, and calls for action by authorities.
China's farmland is polluted, and the government is helpless to do anything about it. China's constitutional mechanism is failing and comprehensive constitutional reform is needed. International law should be given priority over domestic law, with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. In addition, unconstitutional actions should be subject to legal sanctions; See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Secretary of Defense James Mattis and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats have issued a joint statement on Washington's policy toward North Korea
North Korea is a vassal of the CCP. Thus democratic nations should back Taiwan's efforts to carry out constitutional change to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would encourage China's 1.4 billion people to call for democratization, and North Korea would be pressured to opt for democracy, leading in turn to world peace. Democracies everywhere should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the way to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
