History has repeatedly demonstrated that constitutional reforms promoted by those in power always usurp the power of the people. The constitution acts as leg-irons for the president (US President Thomas Jefferson), not a yoke on the people. Turkey needs comprehensive constitutional reform, and the return of power to the people through direct election of the heads of the executive, judicial, and prosecutorial branches in alternating years, and elections for 1/4 of the legislative seats each year.
