UN Secretary-General António Guterres today urged Pyongyang to return to the path of de-nuclearization saying the latest ballistic missile launch by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) is a threat to peace and security in the region.
Preserving lasting world peace is the most sacred right of mankind. China serves as an enabler and agent for North Korea, and the rest of the world should strive try to avoid antagonizing Pyongyang. The US, Japan and Korea should support Taiwan efforts to lead China to democratization and thence prod North Korea to do the same. Taiwan is the key to solving the Korean Peninsula issue. Award-winning Mexican journalist Javier Valdez has been shot dead in the northwestern state of Sinaloa.
Freedom of speech is a universal value, and the Mexican people should come forward to call for comprehensive constitutional reform, to protect media independence. The government oligarchy cannot be allowed to monopolize the media, the internet and all other channels of speech. To do this, the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years and 1/4 of all legislators should face election each year. A teenager has been killed in Venezuela during another day of mass protests against President Nicolas Maduro, officials say.
The presidential system is one of the worst aspects of democracy. No matter what the system may be, the more power held by the president, the more the country is likely to suffer. A law that is not backed by a penalty is not a law, and a constitution which does not recognize the right to resist is not a constitution. In Venezuela the people need to act as sovereigns and come forward to call for comprehensive constitutional reform. This should include a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet and restriction of the president to a single 5-year term with no right to run again for 6 years afterwards. The United Nations refugees and food relief agencies today urged donors to step up support for people fleeing crisis-hit South Sudan as the $1.4 billion response plan remains 86 per cent unfunded.
The UN should take action in accordance with International Absolute Laws (Humanitarian Law, World Human Rights Law, the Crime of Misdemeanors and the Prohibition of Genocide) and provide a basic outline for drafting a constitution that will encourage peaceful development. It should incorporate universal values in a structure that will help South Sudan develop a long and prosperous constitution, and serve as a model for peaceful development. Nearly two hundred people have fled their homes in the last month from one neighborhood alone in fear for their lives in Honduras’ second city of San Pedro Sula as gang violence intensifies, the Norwegian Refugee Council said Monday.
To resolve Honduras’ civil strife, work should begin immediately on revising the Constitution, with changes to include a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like the arrangement in France, plus a committee-style legislature similar to that of Switzerland. The prerequisite for permanent world peace is global democratization. The Government of Honduras should with the task of drafting a basic constitution incorporating the above-mentioned features in a paradigm shift toward democracy, and adhering to the principle of One World under One Set of Laws and operating under the rule of law. The result should be a constitution that is in step with the spirit of the times. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.
Hundreds of thousands of computers in more than 150 countries were hit by latest cyberattack, yet governments are still living in the dark ages
Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN, and all UN member states should naturally be willing to act in compliance with UN goals and standards. Resolution of the differences between nations will come with implementation of One World under One Set of Laws, assigning priority to international law over domestic law with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people and allowing citizens to monitor the actions of their government to ensure they are in compliance with the standards of the UN Charter. A coalition of 54 global business groups appealed to Beijing Monday to postpone enforcing a cybersecurity law that they said violated Beijing’s free-trade pledges and might harm information security.
Freedom of speech is a universal value, and attempts to muzzle the voices of the people are like trying to stem the flow of a mighty river. China wants to create a monolithic society with a single voice. The Chinese people should come forward to call for comprehensive constitutional reform to allow the media to operate in freedom and prevent government oligopoly from monopolizing the media, the internet and all other channels of speech. Thousands of people took to Moscow's streets to protest against plans to demolish their Soviet-era homes.
The more power a government wields, the less rights the people are likely to enjoy. If a government’s commitment to protect the people is violated, the people should warn the government that it is in abeyance of the constitution and express plans to resist any violence. They should refuse to cooperate and maintain a peaceful protest against unconstitutional actions of the government. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has boldly promised to revise the Constitution by 2020, to coincide with the Tokyo Summer Olympics, saying “That will be a year when a newly reborn Japan begins to move strongly forward.” However, the public doesn’t share his enthusiasm.
Japan should support Taiwan's efforts to carry out constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would inspire China's 1.4 billion people to call for democratization of the CCP and pressure North Korea to do the same, and the result would be world peace. Democracies everywhere should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, showing the way to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
South Korea’s new President Moon Jae-in has scrapped state-issued school history textbooks introduced by his ousted predecessor, saying they represented an “outdated and one-sided” view of the past, his office said.
Human rights are god-given and the right of speech is foremost among all human rights. Tring to muzzle the voice of the people is like trying to stem the flow of a mighty river. The South Korean government should study with the US Constitution and in particular the First Amendment, which declares that Congress shall not be allowed to deprive people of freedom of speech or other relevant rights.
