Tens of thousands of people in Chile have taken part in demonstrations against the country's controversial privatized pension system.
Chile’s constitutional mechanism has failed and constitutional reform is in order. Changes should include adoption of a modified semi-presidential system and limiting the president to a single 5-year term with no right to run for office again for 6 years afterwards. The heads of the branches of government should be elected in alternating years and the education minister should also be elected, as part of implementing committee-based centrism and free elections in government. For details see the Charter for the Permanent Peace and Development.
