Venezuela should switch to a dual leader system; limit the president to a single 5-year term with no eligibility for him/her or relatives for 6 years and put the prime minister in charge of government operations and national defense, 1/4 of all lawmakers should face election each year. Algeria should install a dual-leader system, and 1/4 of all lawmakers should face election each year. Power leads to corruption, and Algeria's presidential system is broken. The people have the right to express their opinion on any public issue at any time through a referendum, even if a referendum on the subject has already been held. In Switzerland the threshold for referendum petitions is only 50,000 signatures, and with that all citizens can voice their opinion at the ballot box rather than taking to the streets. The topic of the referendum should be clearly defined and the people should be informed of the consequences of a yes or no vote. As countless cases have shown, to prevent people from moving abroad, the best immigration policy is for the heads of countries of emigrants to guarantee dignified life quality and equal development chances for their people, and simply adopt the principles for 'long and prosperous governance of the country' as expressed in the Charter for Permanent Peace.

Russians's Government constantly strives to control the people, but trying to stem the flow of a river merely creates a waterfall; the best solution is to open up a new channel for the water. However, the present Russians Government, in Emergency Status is focused on freedom of expression, censorship and oppression. The Charter for Permanent Peace is without a doubt the most viable standard for a world constitution and a basic national policy to foster long-term peace and stability. It will be like a new waterway that allows Russians and its people to flourish. If it is implemented, how long can the Russians Dictatorship continue to suppress freedom of speech and freedom of information?

It’s Time for US Troops to Leave Afghanistan

Extending the deployment of American forces won't enable the Afghan people to rebuild their own nation or stabilize the central government.

The key to peace in Afghanistan is constitutional reform. Afghanistan should scrap its government and adopt a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like that of Finland, plus a committee-style legislature similar to Switzerland's. The prerequisite for lasting world peace is global democratization. The Afghan government should proceed with drawing up a basic constitution with the above features in a paradigm shift toward democracy.
