Hong Kong’s candidates in the leadership race should debate the pros and cons of issues of real concern to the people, rather than merely carping at personal flaws of other candidates
The candidates for Chief Executive of Hong Kong are still vetted by the CEC, an arrangement which does not change the dictatorial nature of the regime. The people of Hong Kong should avail of Article 39 of the Basic Law, which guarantees the right to hold referendums. To curb corruption, elect the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years and have 1/4 of all MPs face election each year.
