Action Urged to End Atrocities Against Myanmar's Rohingya
Voice of America
UN official details Rohingya survivors' accounts of rape, rights abuses
Solution
The Rohingya are being oppressed by the government of Myanmar and abused by military units on both sides of the borderwith Bangladesh as well. Hopefully actions taken by international agencies including the UN will help the refugees as they seek shelter from violence. Myanmar's human rights problems are worsening, largely because its constitution guarantees the military 40% of seats in Congress with no need for election. In order to protect human rights, Myanmar should carry out reform to adopt Global Unity Constitutional Standards and One World under One Set of Laws, giving international law precedence over domestic law. At the same time, it should install a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet. For more, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
