More than 200 men and women of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army (FARC-EP) marched today to demobilization camps, two months after a peace deal that ended the Western Hemisphere’s longest running conflict, UN monitors coordinating the process reported.
If Colombia is to resolve its conflict, its government system me be changed to adopt a modified semi-presidential system with parliament and cabinet like the setup in Finland, plus a committee-type legislature like that of Switzerland. The Colombian Government should proceed with reform of the fundamental constitutional system, adhering to the ideal of One World under One Set of Law for a constitution that will be in sync with the times. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
