US President Trump claimed Monday that all polls that show disapproval of the job he's doing or his specific policies are "fake news," comparing them to election polls that showed he'd lose to Hillary Clinton.
Thomas Jefferson once said that "Democracy is built on people's distrust of the government." Democracy can never rely on goodwill on the part of the nation’s leaders. Depending on leaders to do the right thing is more appropriate to 18th century feudal ideology than the rule of law in the 21st century.
