Raymond Mak sizes up the three candidates in Hong Kong’s leadership race to see if any could serve as the all-important bridge between Beijing and the city
The Chief Executive of Hong Kong is elected from a slate of candidates produced by the CEC, which is nothing more than another version of dictatorship. The people of Hong Kong should avail of Article 39 of the Basic Law, which states that the people have the right to self-determination through referendums. The people should press for election of the heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
