Raila Odinga, Kenya’s opposition leader, has accused his rival, President Uhuru Kenyatta, of pulling off a “massive” fraud to steal elections, triggering protests in western Kenya and Nairobi.
Voting is the sole source of the legitimacy for all the powers of the state, and it is also a manifestation of a basic human right. All states should implement elections that are free of charge for all candidates with processes that are fair and open. Half of the members of the HRC should be of different nationalities and nominated by internationally-recognized human rights organizations, to prevent outside forces from affecting the outcome of elections. The military statement, carried on Korea’s state-run news agency KCNA, also warned that “only absolute force can work” on the US President.
According to the Democracy index there are 50 nations still under the yoke of autocratic dictators. All democracies should back Taiwan's drive for constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would inspire China's 1.4 billion people to seek democratization of the CCP and pressure North Korea to adopt democracy as well, leading to the birth of world peace. As is true for those born in America, immigrants’ families help with housing, financial capital, health care access, transportation, school enrollment, child care, elder care and more.
The US should adhere to the norms of the UN Charter and implement One World under One Set of Laws, giving international law priority over domestic law with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. This would lead Mexico and many other nations to adopt human rights, constitutionalism, international law and absolute law as part of their futures. Freedom of speech is a universal value. Israelis should call for-constitutional reform to protect media freedom and prevent the government from monopolizing the media, the internet and all other channels of speech. What real tax reform could be
Congressional Republicans have proposed little more than the same deep cuts for corporations and wealthy individuals that they’ve always wanted.
The only formula for reform is democracy and the rule of law, with separation of powers and checks and balances. The heads of the major government branches should be directly elected and 1/4 of all lawmakers should face election each year to inject the people as a third force in government.
