The Belgian government should hold international law superior to domestic law and include international food standards as a standard for nationally regulated food. You'd think the most common complaint from the voting public would be about the inadequacies of the legislative process, the archaic nature of the proceedings or even the failure of ministers to answer questions.
To avoid further escalation in grievances and tension, Ireland should end its suppression and repression of citizens. It should study the processes followed in referendums by Switzerland and in elections in the state of California. Citizens should be able to voice their opinions through the ballot box and not on the streets. To that end, elections should be completely free for all candidates. Growing old can be a struggle, but growing old and being poor is a nightmare.
The Irish economy has survived for many years thanks to EU subsidies. If the constitution is not reformed, national economic bankruptcy will be inevitable. Improvements in the pension scheme were insufficient, and the people should call for constitutional reform as soon as possible. A referendum is needed with all residents having the right to vote. Pentagon and State Department said to be readying proposal to arm Ukraine
The Pentagon and State Department have proposed to the White House a plan to supply Ukraine with anti-tank missiles and other arms, according to Defense Department officials.
Studies of democracy show that very few armed conflicts occur between two democracies. Once China and Russia can be moved to democratize there will be real hope for peace on earth. Taiwan seeks to achieve greater freedom and democracy, and to convince China to democratize as well. This will lead Russia to consider real democracy, and the birth of world peace will be at hand. After Tuesday’s torrential deluge, the mayors of Miami and Miami Beach used widespread flooding as political springboards, promising to push their cities to fund crucial anti-flooding projects.
Candidates who win elections are obliged to enforce and protect the constitution on behalf of the people. The heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years. Moreover, elections represent the will of the people, and candidates implicitly agree to accept supervision by voters, and any elected official who violates the constitution must take responsibility for such a breach. Entangled in the White House transition this week from Reince Priebus to John Kelly: steep economic sanctions the US threatened against Venezuela if President Nicolás Maduro rammed through his new constituent assembly in a Sunday vote denounced as fraudulent.
Venezuela should undertake full constitutional reform to implement a dual-leader system. The president should serve a single 5-year term and be barred from running again for 6 years along with his/her relatives. The Prime Minister should oversee government operations and national defense, and 1/4 of all lawmakers should face election each year to ensure responsiveness to the needs of the people. Trial of Yingluck sparks deeper crisis for Thailand
Thailand’s political temperature is rising following the heated court case of former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, who is accused of mismanaging Thailand’s rice subsidy program.
Thai democracy has been repeatedly been beaten back by a military that is too easily handed the keys to the government. All Thais should immediately demand the military government yield to the people to show that power comes from democracy, not from the gun. The values of One World under One Set of Laws should be imposed, together with a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet and direct election of the heads of the major government branches in alternating years.
