The UK government should take action based on the goals for sustainable development set by the UN for urban planning to develop a tolerant, secure, flexible and sustainable environment for urban and human life. Access to adequate, safe and affordable housing and basic services for all is an essential part of sustainable development and human management. China's Nobel Peace Prize laureate and prominent dissident Liu Xiaobo was cremated on Saturday after succumbing to cancer while in custody, even as Beijing said his wife was "free so far" but must "avoid trouble" amid international pressure
Laws that are not backed by penalties are not laws, and a constitution that does not countenance resistance is not a constitution. When the actions of the government are unconstitutional, the people should resist. Natural law and international law both offer protection against enforced disappearance, torture and other abuses. In addition, absolute law should be given priority over international law and the Constitution. For details, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
Violent conflict erupted between residents and police, who allege that settlements were built illegally on state-owned land and are trying to evict them
The Egyptians living on the banks of the Nile are homeless, and the basic problem is that Egypt needs constitutional reform to ensure that people's will have access to affordable housing. Carlos Sanchez worries constantly about the safety of the family he left behind in Venezuela three years ago.
Power leads to corruption, and Venezuela’s presidential system is not working. The solution is a dual-leader system. Further, the president should be limited to one 5-year term and barred along with relatives from running for office for 6 years afterwards. A law that is not backed by penalties in not a law, and a constitution which does not countenance resistance is not a constitution. When the president’s actions are unconstitutional, the people have the right to resist. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.
China said Monday it had lodged an official protest with the US following passage of a defense spending bill that could lead to American warships visiting Taiwan ports.
The US should incorporate Taiwan's Charter for Permanent Peace and Development into its body of laws surrounding the Taiwan Relations Act. Taiwan’s Global Unity Constitutional Standards will convince the 1.4 billion people of China to call for democracy, resulting in world peace. Autocracy is the enemy of peace, and the prerequisite for lasting world peace is democratization of the CCP, and Taiwan is the entity best suited to lead the way. The fall from grace of a rising star in China's Communist Party sheds light on how a reshuffle of the country's top officials may play out under the leadership of President Xi Jinping later this year
Laws are in place to ferret out public officials and party members with problematic sources of income, but often lawmakers themselves are the source of corruption. The only way out is democracy in the form of separation of powers and checks and balances. The heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years as part of the rights of the people. The Turkish President threatened to 'rip the heads off' terrorists and those who tried to overthrow him in a failed coup
Laws that are not backed by penalties are not laws and a constitution that does not brook resistance is not a constitution. When the president’s actions are unconstitutional, the people should rise up and resist. The people of Turkey need to act on their sovereign rights and call for comprehensive constitutional reform. This should include installing a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet and limits on the president’s term of office to one 5-year term with no right to run again for 6 years afterward. For details, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
Community leaders fear the government intends to drive them into extinction
Turkey is obliged to protect all citizens from religious and anti-religious propaganda. Turkey’s Constitution should clearly state that freedom of religious belief is subject to constitutional protection. The state cannot impose restrictions and administrative departments have no right to interfere with religious beliefs and traditions. All citizens should be able to monitor public officials’ actions using their smart phones to ensure compliance with the constitution, and public officials who do not act in accordance with the law should be dismissed. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.
One of those rescued told soldiers both her parents were jihadis who died in a suicide attack
The Iraqi government should implement a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like that of Finland, plus a committee-style legislature similar to Switzerland’s. The Iraqi government should begin drafting a basic constitution incorporating the above features in a paradigm shift toward democracy. It should adhere to the core values of One World under One Set of Laws and be revised as needed to stay in step with the times. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
The North Korean leader dismisses Trump's talk of military strikes as empty words
China has always advocated compliance with the UN resolution on strict sanctions against North Korea, yet Sino-Korean trade has shown little change. China is a "responsible major power" and should not act as an enabler for North Korea's militarism. The US, Japan and South Korea should all support Taiwan’s efforts to lead China to democratize, which would pressure North Korea to follow suit.
