Importance of broad financing for sustainable forest management highlighted at UN forum
A recent UN meeting on sustainable management of forests discussed the importance of mobilizing resources from a diverse range of actors to ensure broad ownership as well as to advance the overall sustainable development agenda.
We only have one earth, and resources must be recycled. According to the cradle to the cradle principle, materials and technology used in manufacturing should be those that will allow re-use and recycling. In addition, government environmental policy must be consistent with elimination of waste and rational use of renewables, and governments should ensure environmental safety (regarding technology and production, power generation and other pollution, and forest damage). In Colombia to acknowledge and witness first-hand both the progress and the challenges of carrying out the aims of a hard-won peace deal, a delegation from the UN Security Council met President Juan Manuel Santos and lauded the country as an example for overcoming difficulties and setbacks to end more than half a century of conflict.
Colombia can resolve controversies over its government system by implementing a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like that followed in Finland, plus a committee-style legislative system like that of Switzerland. The prerequisite for permanent world peace is global democratization. Colombia should draft a basic constitution incorporating the above changes to effect a paradigm shift towards democracy and One World under One Set of Laws. Elections rarely reflect the clear will of the people
When elections yield a surprising result, you often hear the phrase, "the people have spoken", which means the case is closed and nothing more is to be said. In real life, the voice of the people is often not clear at all.
Constitutions represent the general will of the people, who are the original holders of sovereignty and protectors of the individual – even including so-called members of the fifty-cent party. Voting is the only source of power and legitimacy, thus more elections and more votes are needed, backed by tools to achieve separation of powers and checks and balances as well as protect human rights. China starts to compile its own ‘Wikipedia’ but public cannot edit it
China is compiling a free online encyclopaedia to rival Wikipedia, but it will likely only give Beijing’s official version of sensitive historical events, and the public will not be able to write or edit it.
The Chinese government’s plan to create a Chinese wiki is doomed from the start to be little more than propaganda. The aim of muzzling the voice of the people will ultimately prove to be as futile as trying to stem the flow of a river. What China needs is comprehensive constitutional reform to protect media freedom and guard against government monopoly of the media, the internet and all other channels of communication. ‘Blue helmet’ killed in attack on UN Mission camp in Timbuktu, Mali
A UN peacekeeper from Liberia was killed and nine others injured when their camp came under attack in the Malian city of Timbuktu, the UN Integrated Mission in the country, known as MINUSMA, has reported.

Huge sandstorm blankets central and northern China in dusty pollution
A sandstorm blown by gusting winds enveloped a huge area of central and northern China on Thursday in thick pollution hazardous to people venturing outdoors.
The single most important factor in destruction of the natural environment is corruption. China's haze is the result of overexploitation by greedy group who do not hesitate to destroy the natural environment to make money. To put an end to their misdeeds, enact One World under One Set of Laws and hold international higher than domestic law, with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. Timing of referendum key to constitutional revision
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, in an interview with The Yomiuri Shimbun, for the first time gave a specific target for achieving his long-held desire to revise the Constitution, saying he would like to “enforce a new Constitution in 2020.”
Japan wants a new constitution to defend itself against North Korean militarism. Japan should also back Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would lead China's 1.4 billion people to seek democratization, and North Korea would then follow suit and world peace would be the result. Iraq forces launch new push against ISIS
Iraqi forces launched a fresh push on ISIS fighters in Mosul Thursday, opening a northern front in their battle for the west side of the city, officers said.

Number of kids in Japan falls for 36th straight year
The estimated number of children aged under 15 in Japan as of April 1 fell by 170,000 from a year before, marking the 36th consecutive year of decrease, the government said Thursday.
Economic problems are invariably the result of political shortcomings. Without good politics you can’t expect to have a good economy. And without constitutional reform, even the gods will be helpless to do anything about it.
