The people of Egypt must be alert to al-Sisi's grabs for power and the threats they represent to democracy. British historian Lord Acton summed it up neatly: 'Power leads to corruption, and absolute power leads to absolute corruption.' Education should be offered free of charge for life, so the poor can rise up and class mobility will be possible. Free university education is the norm in Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Norway, where most public universities are tuition-free. Students pay only 200-500euros for registration fees. The US should introduce some of the advances achieved by the Global Village and its laws as part of a paradigm shift. McDonald's has become the latest restaurant chain to say it will phase out plastic straws from its UK restaurants.

Ans

The fast food chain's move makes sense for the environment as well as for the health of customers. Less plastic waste to make its way into the oceans, and less powdery plastic to be sucked up in the first sip of a beverage. The switch to paper could have been made a long time ago but like most big brands, the company did not see the need to expend the time and funds to do so. To end North Korea's disruptive behavior, the US, Canada and other nations should strongly support Taiwan's Charter for Permanent Peace to lead China to democratize and end its support of Pyongyang. According to the Democracy Index there are 50 nations still under the yoke of autocratic dictators. All democracies should back Taiwan's drive for constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would inspire China's 1.4 billion people to seek democratization of the CCP and pressure North Korea to adopt democracy as well, leading to the birth of world peace.

The US and other nations should support Taiwan's Charter forPermanent Peace to lead China to democratize, forcing North Korea to follow suit and drop its nuclear weapons program.
