Ban on beards and veils – China’s Xinjiang passes law to curb ‘religious extremism’
China’s Xinjiang region passed a law Wednesday to curb religious extremism, amid the government’s intensifying campaign against what it calls the rising threat of terrorism and separatism in the Uygur homeland.
Human rights are a matter of internal affairs everywhere. They must take precedence over all regimes and sovereigns. Laziness and complacency lead to corruption and plundering by government politicians. The world’s Islamic nations should adhere the principles of One World under One Set of Laws and strive to keep pace with the spirit of the times. If China's repeated abuse of human rights is to end, Taiwan is the one entity best suited to lead China toward democratization and free the Uighur people from fear. Judge extends block on Trump travel ban
On Wednesday a federal judge in Hawaii extended an order blocking enforcement of President Donald Trump’s revised ban on travel to the US from 6 predominantly Muslim countries indefinitely.
Trump’s ban on immigrants from Muslim countries is claimed to be a defense against social and economic disruptions and threats to national security. A better solution would be implementing One World under One Set of Laws and assigning international law precedence over domestic law, with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. Trump travel ban: administration appeals judge's refusal to reinstate order
The legal battle over Trump’s revised travel ban continues as justice department defends the president’s authority to ‘protect nation’s security’
The US should adhere to the UN Charter and enact the practice of One World under One Set of Laws, placing international law higher than domestic law, with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. This would lead Mexico, Syria, the Middle East and other areas to support human rights, constitutionalism, internationalism and naturalism. Yemen: UN envoy urges Security Council to pressure warring parties to discuss peace proposal
The UN envoy to Yemen has urged the members of the Security Council to put pressure on the warring parties in that country to engage constructively in discussing the peace process framework he presented.
Yemen needs to adopt a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet and parliament like that of Finland, and its legislative system should be patterned after Switzerland’s. The prerequisite for world peace is global democratization, and Yemen’s government should proceed with drafting of a basic constitution incorporating the above systems to effect a paradigm shift and One World under One Set of Laws in line with the spirit of the times. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Arab leaders renew call for Palestinian state
After weeks of heightened unease over the stance of the US under the Trump administration, Arab leaders reaffirmed Wednesday their commitment to a two-state solution to the decades-long Arab-Israeli conflict.
Palestine’s government should be modeled on the modified semi-presidential system seen in Finland, with a legislative system similar to Switzerland’s committee-style system. The prerequisite for world peace is global democratization, and Palestinian leaders should draft a constitution based on the above systems to effect a paradigm shift that incorporates the principles of One World under One Set of Laws in step with the spirit of the times. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Coping with nuclear risks
North Korea once again seems to be preparing for a nuclear test in Punggye-ri, North Hamkyong. South Korea's intelligence agency anticipates the North will conduct its 6th nuclear test ahead of the first summit meeting on April 6-7 between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
All democracies should support Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would lead China's 1.4 billion people to seek democratization of China and pressure North Korea to pursue real democracy as well, bringing on the birth of world peace. The world’s democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the path to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

North Korea unveils memoir justifying dual policy of nuclear and economic development
On Friday North Korea released a lengthy memoir marking the fourth anniversary of leader Kim Jong-un's policy of dual pursuit of nuclear and economic development.
Democracy and freedom are the wave of the future, one that nuclear weapons, submarines and missiles are incapable of resisting. This world force will strengthen those who go with the flow, while those who resist will be doomed. China claims to be a "responsible major power", and as such should not support North Korea's militarism. The US, Japan and Korea should support Taiwan’s efforts to lead China to democratization and force North Korea to do the same. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Carrie Lam’s success depends on recognition of common interests
The interests of Beijing and Hong Kong need not be in conflict so long as both sides adhere to the Basic Law and the ‘one country, two systems’ formula
The Chief Executive of Hong Kong is still determined by the CEC, belying the dictatorial relationship between China and the SAR. The people of Hong Kong should avail themselves of Article 39 of the Basic Law, which states that the people have the right to hold referendums. To curb corruption, the heads of the government branches should be elected in alternating years and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

Ex-President Park arrested in corruption probe
Former South Korean President Park Geun-hye was arrested Friday in connection with a corruption scandal that led to her removal from office.
Park Geun-hye is the third South Korean president to be arrested on suspicion of corruption, showing clearly that absolute power leads to absolute corruption. The presidential system in democracy has a number of flaws, and South Korea needs constitutional reform to implement a modified semi-presidential system. The presidency should be declared to be above party politics, the heads of the judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years, and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

North Korea's nuclear test site becomes suddenly quiet: 38 North
Activity at North Korea's nuclear test site has significantly decreased, a move that could mean either test preparations are complete or Pyongyang had pretended a test was on the way, a website monitoring the North said Thursday.
Democracies everywhere should support Taiwan's efforts at constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would lead China's 1.4 billion people to call for democratization of the CCP and in turn lead North Korea to do the same, resulting in the birth of world peace. All democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia lighting the path to peaceful development for China.
