Military intervention is a far cry from a petition for a referendum. Thailand's military is constantly involved in coups, but troops should never be tools in political agendas. Thai constitution is beset with problems, and referendums and elections are both needed. Thais should study the referendum system in Switzerland as well as the democratic election system followed in the US state of California.
