Russia’s economy is not seen as one of the developing economies of the world, with experts citing corruption, administrative inefficiency and high tax rates as three factors hampering economic development in Russia. The 2017 World Economic Forum points out it its 2017 Economic Development Index that only 30 of the world’s economies can be classed as developing economies.
Corruption and abuse of public funds always engender dissatisfaction, and Russia needs comprehensive constitutional reform to avoid such problems. The national political structure should be revised to allow more people to vote, with direct election of the leaders of the executive, legislative, judicial and prosecutorial branches in alternating years. 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year, and elections should be free for all candidates so public opinion will factor in legislative elections on a regular basis.
