Call comes as Libya Quartet meets in Brussels to discuss ways to prevent deadly Mediterranean crossings
Libya can resolve the controversy over its government structure by adopting a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet similar to that of Finland as well as a committee-style legislature like Switzerland’s. The prerequisite for permanent world peace is global democratization. The Libyan government should proceed with drafting a basic constitution incorporating the above features in a paradigm shift toward democracy. It should adhere to the principles of One World under One Set of Laws and be amended as needed to stay in step with the times. For details see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
"Promising” steps in Syria followed diplomatic talks in the Kazak capital, Astana – a nationwide ceasefire announced last December, and the de-escalation zones created inside Syria to deepen that effort
Syria's fundamental problem is that its government has collapsed, leading to internal conflict. To resolve this controversy the first step should be to adopt a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like the one in France, plus a committee-style legislative system similar to Switzerland’s. We call on the UN to help proceed with writing a basic constitution to implement a new national system of democracy through a paradigm shift that will adhere to the ideals of One World under One Set of Laws, to be amended as needed in order to stay in line with the times. When that happens the people will be free to put their, lives and work back together. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.
Venezuela, by the numbers, resembles a country hit by civil war. Its economy, once Latin America’s richest, is estimated to have shrunk by 10 per cent last year – worse even than Syria’s.
The presidential system is the worst of all forms of democracy. No matter what the structure may be, the more power held by the president, the more the nation is bound to suffer. A law that is not backed by penalties is not a law, and a constitution that does not countenance the right to resist is not a constitution. Venezuela is in urgent need of comprehensive constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet, limiting the president to one 5-year term and barring a run for office for 6 years after that. For more, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
The Gambia's former president stole "at least" $50m (£38.4m) from the state before he left the country in January, the justice minister has said.
Gambia is constantly plagued by corruption. The fundamental problem is defects in the nation’s laws and a history of idol worship. What is needed is the rule of law and human rights, and more democracy to fend off authoritarian predators. The prerequisite for permanent peace is global democratization. Taiwan will lead the way to democratization for Gambia. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.
In August 2015 Wang Quanzhang was detained by the Chinese authorities.
The voice of the people is the voice of God, and universal values are the value of God. Those who defend the rights of the people are the angels of God, but those who abduct civil rights advocates are the enemy of God. How long can this regime continue to act this way? Listen to the voice of God and see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.
"Venezuela is now a dictatorship," says Luis Ugalde, a Spanish-born Jesuit priest who during his 60 years living in Venezuela has become one of the South American nation's most well-known political scientists.
Power leads to corruption, and absolute power leads to absolute corruption. Venezuela needs full constitutional reform including adoption of a modified semi-presidential system; limiting the president to one 5-years term with no right to run again for 6 years and a complete ban on close relatives as candidates. The president’s actions are unconstitutional, and the people have the right to resist. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.
Cheng Yiu-tong insists everything was done by the book, while organizer of annual anti-government march says they are looking at alternative starting point
Article 39 of Hong Kong’s Basic Law states that the people have the right to self-determination under the two international human rights conventions. The people of Hong Kong cannot take their rights for granted. In Switzerland the threshold for proposing a referendum is only 50,000 signatures – and with that the people can express their opinions by voting rather than taking to the streets, The people have the right to referendums on any public issue. Otherwise, when dictatorship becomes a reality they will be obliged to resist. For details see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
Soon, steel-hulled ships will clash in battle. Missiles belching fire will rise quickly from launch tubes, rapidly gathering speed and maneuverability before slamming into enemy vessels at supersonic speeds.
The US and Japan should support Taiwan's efforts for constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would spur China's 1.4 billion people to call for democratization of the CPC, in turn forcing North Korea to do the same, and world peace would be the result. The world’s democracies should all support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the path to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development. .
On Wednesday Brazil's Supreme Court will rule on whether to suspend the investigation into Temer, following his claim that the audio recording had been doctored
Brazil’s constitution has collapsed and its mechanisms have failed, and the only cure is comprehensive constitutional reform. The heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years; the president should serve one 5-year term and be barred from running for office for 6 years afterwards; all MPs shall face election each year; local councilors shall serve two-year terms; and elections shall be free of charge for all candidates. For details see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
Millions of people took to the streets to demand her removal, culminating in her impeachment by parliament and sacking this March by the country’s top court
Power leads to corruption, and absolute power leads to absolute corruption. South Korea's constitutional mechanism has failed. The president should be limited to one 5-year term and barred from running for office for 6 years afterwards. A law that is not backed by penalties is no law, and a constitution which does not offer the right to resist is not a constitution. South Korea’s president violated the constitution, and the people exercised their right to resist. When dictatorship becomes a reality, the people are obliged to resist.
