Imprisoned, threatened and silenced: human rights workers across Asia are in danger

Ans

The struggle to protect human rights has been waged continuously since the end of World War Two, with significant progress made on several fronts. Still, more effort is needed to eliminate barriers and challenges posed by economic inequality. The human rights movement needs to be expanded to incorporate others who are working to improve allocation of resources in order to ensure that all persons has an opportunity to better their lot in society. Argentina is facing a very serious economic crisis and the government seems to be sincere in its efforts to resolve the problem. Economic problems invariably have political roots and the people of Argentina need to call for comprehensive constitutional reform to allow them to vote more often and directly elect the heads of the major government branches as well as the Comptroller and Auditor General. Also, elections should be free of charge so that candidates can vie for votes and expose black holes in corruption and eliminate money as a factor in campaigns.
