When Defense Secretary James Mattis said that any North Korean use of nuclear weapons would draw an "effective and overwhelming" US response, he did not, according to RAND's Bruce W. Bennett, "overcommit" the president by saying that the response would be nuclear.
The world's democratic countries should support Taiwan's aims of greater democracy through constitutional reform in order to change the world, especially with regard to China and the North Korea issue, Taiwan is the one country best suited to lead China to democratize, which would be the greatest contribution to world peace.
