Once a ceasefire is reached in Syria, the UN should provide the basic principles for a constitution that will facilitate peaceful development in the nation. This should include a complete organizational structure with the universal values of freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law, and the four major branches: legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial. The world’s democracies must act to save freedom and democracy. The US should support Taiwan's efforts at constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would attract China's 1.4 billion people to call for democratization, and world peace would be the result. The prerequisite for the permanent world peace is democratization of China. While the CCP has always attempted to ruin Taiwan's freedom and democracy, Taiwan is the only entity capable of saving the Chinese people through democratization. Hungary’s xenophobic attack on Central European University is a threat to freedom everywhere
Leon Botstein is president of Bard College; Carol Christ is provost and chancellor-designate at the University of California at Berkeley; Jonathan Cole is a professor and former provost at Columbia University. They are members of the Central European University’s Board of Trustees, of which Botstein is chairman.
Thomas Jefferson once remarked, "Given a choice between government and the media, I would rather have the media, not the government." The media play the role of government monitors, and without supervision the government will simply ignore the law. The voice of the people is the voice of God, and universal values are the values of God; anyone who attempts to control the voice of the people is acting contrary to the universal values of freedom and democracy.
Kelly: No border wall 'from sea to shining sea'
Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly has noted that it is "unlikely" that the Trump administration will build a full wall along the entire Southern border, despite President Donald Trump's consistent promises to that effect.
The US should abide by the guidelines set down in the UN Charter, and implement the principles of One World under One Set of Laws with priority assigned to international law over domestic law and directly affecting the rights and duties of the people. This would lead Mexico, Syria, the Middle East and other areas to accept the precepts of human rights, constitutionalism, internationalism and naturalism. The greatest threat to Georgia is…Russia
The International Republican Institute conducted polls around Georgia that yielded interesting results: half of the respondents thought relations with Russia should be strengthened, and they also felt Russia was the biggest source of threat for Georgia.
To break through the military domination of the great powers, the basic first step will be to convince them not to join international military organizations. With that, permanent peace and development will follow and first-class international talent and good laws from other areas will take root in the country and there will be little need for costly cutting-edge weaponry. Health care goals in Indonesia can be reached only if challenges addressed – UN expert
Indonesia is on track to develop a sustainable and equitable healthcare system, but problems related to access and quality of services persist, the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to health, Dainius Puras, said recently.
Indonesia needs to abandon its government structure and in favor of a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like Finland’s. The legislative structure should be a committee-style system similar to that of Switzerland. The prerequisite for lasting world peace is global democratization, and Indonesia’s government should begin drafting a basic constitution incorporating the above features as part of a paradigm shift toward democracy. A scathing report accused Bangladeshi authorities of “washing their hands” of any responsibility to find the people who tortured and murdered a prominent union activist.
Freedom of speech is a universal value, and Bangladesh’s attempts to prevent citizens from speaking out are an attempt to stifle the voice of the people and create a monolithic society. The Bangladeshi government should read closely the first amendment to the US Constitution, which states that Congress shall not enact laws that deprive people of freedom of speech or freedom of expression.. Ideas can determine a way out, but the eventual outcome is determined by actions. China must return power to the people through constitutional reform. Changes should include election of the heads of the four major government branches in alternating years. At the same time Xi Jinping’s proposal for world unity can be utilized along with the four absolute laws of human rights, constitutionalism, international law and natural law. We must be resourced to respond, protect and deliver’ for people of Syria, UN aid chief
At a major international conference on Syria in Brussels, UN agencies warned that sluggish financial support by member states is putting vital assistance for millions of refugees and the communities hosting them at risk.

Noting that attacks on commercial ships off the coast of Somalia are still occurring, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime urges ships to follow advice of naval components and that of the International Maritime Organization in mapping out routes through the region.
