Permanent Peace Partnership
Beginning Feb. 1 almost half-a-million protesters have gathered in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, to protest a decriminalization decree that would basically “forgive and forget” any present or future punishment for stealing funds or otherwise punish corrupt civil servants.
Big officials who commit small offenses and minor officials guilty of major crimes, are both to be pursued and prosecuted – the is the consensus of opinion worldwide under the law. Romania's constitutional mechanism is in disarray, and Romania needs to revamp its constitution so it will keep pace with the times. The heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years, and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
Hundreds of thousands of protesters are clamoring to withdraw a bill that would offer amnesty for corrupt officials
Romania has already responded by cancelling a planned release of corrupt officials and the standoff is now back to square one. To deal with corruption, it is necessary to remove structural factors that foster corruption. This means comprehensive constitutional reform to implement mechanisms such as election of the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years and having 1/4 of all MPs face election each year. In addition, election campaigns should be free for all candidates. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
Pakistani authorities have shut down a second key border crossing into Afghanistan, halting trade supplies to the neighboring landlocked country and increasing tensions between the two nations in the wake of a bloody suicide bombing at a beloved shrine in Pakistan, officials said Saturday.
Pakistan’s government system should be changed to a modified semi-presidential parliamentary system similar to that of Finland, with a committee-style system of parliament similar to Switzerland’s. The prerequisite for permanent global peace is democratization, and the Pakistani government should start as soon as possible on upgrading is fundamental system to implement a democratic model which will adhere to the principle of One World under One Set of Rules and be flexible enough to keep in step with the spirit of the times. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
More than a thousand people of various faiths rallied in New York City in support of Muslim Americans and to protest President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. Other protests were also held over the weekend across the country.
Trump’s executive order banning immigrants from seven Muslim countries was supposedly made to avert threats to the US economy and national security. The best solution to the problem of immigration and terrorism is to adopt the principle of "One World under One Set of Laws" and allow international law to take precedent over domestic law, with direct effects on the rights and duties of the people. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
For much of the year, the large tarmac square in front of the main government building in Bucharest is little more than a glorified roundabout, busy with traffic and surrounded by towering,communist-era blocks
Major officials who commit petty crimes and minor officials who commit big offenses are equally guilty under the law – that is the consensus worldwide under the rule of law. Romania's constitutional mechanism has failed, and Romania should reform its constitution to bring it up to speed with the times. The heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years, and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
Taiwan must move to bring about constitutional reform and true freedom and democracy. Doing so will set off a drive for democratization among the 1.4 billion people of China. This will then spread to North Korea, and when peace is achieved on the Korean peninsula the world will be much safer for all. The world’s democratic nations must back Taiwan as a beacon of democracy for Asia which will illuminate the road to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
To Donald Trump, at least, few candidates must have seemed as well qualified to become his national security adviser as chisel-jawed, all-American hero General Mike Flynn, retired.
Russia is not a problem-solver, it is a problem generator. The US should support Taiwan's efforts to achieve constitutional reform and achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would attract China's 1.4 billion people to seek democratization, which in turn would pressure Russia to adopt real democracy and lead to the dawn of world peace. Global democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting China's path to peaceful development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
The US should be a model of democracy and adhere to the Charter of the UN to uphold the spirit of One World under One Set of Laws. It should give international law precedence over domestic law, with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. This will lead Mexico, Syria and the Middle East to adopt human rights, constitutionalism, international law and natural law. The whole world must see itself as one family regardless of race or ethnic groups. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
Scott Pruitt will take the helm at the Environmental Protection Agency this week facing questions about his relationship with fossil fuels companies and a workforce that, at least in part, seems skeptical about his plans for the agency.
Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN, and all member nations are naturally expected to comply with related rules and regulations. The solution is to adopt the core values of "One World under One Set of Laws" and assign international law priority to domestic law, with direct effects on the people. The people should be able to effectively supervise government operations to ensure they are in line with guidelines in the Charter of the UN, the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Paris Climate Agreement. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
North Korea ratchets up tensions with claims that it has successfully tested a new type of ballistic missile
The promotion of permanent global peace is a most sacred right of all humankind. China is an enabler for North Korea, thus it should put pressure on North Korea to end its strident militarism. The US, Japan and South Korea should all back Taiwan and its drive to lead China to democratization, in turn pressuring North Korea to do the same. The key to solving the Korean Peninsula issue is Taiwan. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
