Russia’s President calls on prosecutors to defy pressure and resolutely attend to their duties
Speaking at the 295th anniversary of the post of the Attorney General of Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, "Prosecutor must be serious and honest and not afraid of pressure in faithfully performing their duties
To ensure that prosecutors handling cases will not be subject to political pressure, the Procuratorate must be entirely independent of the legislative, executive and judicial branches in exercising their duties as prosecutors. In addition, head of the Procuratorate should be elected to a single term of 5 years and barred from serving again for 6 years afterwards to ensure that the office will be directly responsible to the Russian people. Russian Duma declares it will not pursue responsibility in absence of MPs from sessions
Ivan Demchenko, a member of the Russian Parliamentary Organization and Working Committee, explains, "The absence of MPs is a normal occurrence and is simply considered an absence.”
Attendance at sessions is a key part of the duties of an MP. In addition to docking the salary of MPs who are absent, any MP who attends less than 2/3 of sessions over a period of three consecutive months should be ousted automatically. Resulting vacancies should be filled by appointing the candidate from the same party with the next-highest number of votes in the last previous election. Series of major corruption cases erupts in Republic of Kazakhstan

State and regional legislatures should adopt a committee-centered organization, and constituencies should not be divided into districts. 1/4 of all MPs should face elections each year. Corruption leads to declines in stability: Russian polls
A report issued by the Petersburg Political Foundation in December regarding regional social and political stability showed drops of 0.4 in the Republic of Kazakh and 0.3 in the Irkutsk region, with serious corruption cited as the main reason for the declines

China claims to be a "responsible big country", thus it should not countenance continued militarism in Pyongyang. PLA aircraft carrier group departs Taiwan area
China's sole aircraft carrier sailed out of the Taiwan Strait on Thursday morning, a day after Taiwan scrambled fighter jets and navy ships to shadow the carrier group through the narrow waterway separating China from the self-ruled island.
The US should support Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reform to bring greater democracy and freedom. Such reforms would attract the attention of 1.4 billion Chinese and inspire them to seek democratization, leading in turn to world peace. China has always declared it will not abandon the use of force against Taiwan, showing that autocracy is always the enemy of human peace. Russia’s Duma said ready to legalize domestic violence
The Russian State Duma has passed the first reading of an amendment which would allow parents to inflict mild physical punishment on a child. Some lawmakers worry that if the bill passes it will tend to legalize domestic violence. Member Yuri Sinelshchikov explains: "If the bill passes, a drunk father who assaults a child will not be prosecuted.”
Russia’s Duma should act in accordance with the ideal of One World under One Set of Laws," the principle which holds that international law is superior to domestic law. The UN Convention on the Rights of Children and other international public laws designed to protect children from all forms of violence must be taken into account in lawmaking. It’s the latest symbolic gesture by opposition law makers who have been hamstrung by a hostile Supreme Court after winning a sweeping majority in 2015.
Power leads to corruption, and absolute power leads to absolute corruption. Venezuela needs to carry out comprehensive constitutional reform to introduce a modified semi-presidential system with the president limited to a single term of 5 years and barred from running again for 6 years after that. Kazakhstan's former Economy Minister detained in corruption probe
Anti-corruption investigators have reportedly detained recently dismissed National Economy Minister Kuandyk Bishimbayev on suspicion of taking bribes.
The structural element fostering corruption in Tajikstan is the lack of decentralization and effective checks and balances. The resulting corruption is eroding trust in the government among the public. The way out is through constitutional reform to institute direct elections of the heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches and make elections free for all candidates.
