In the interest of peace and stability in the South China Sea, China has a responsibility to maintain peaceful relations with its neighbors. Articles 4 and 6 of the 2002 Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea call for peaceful settlement of territorial and territorial disputes (Article 4) as well as joint development and sharing of resources in line with the UN Charter’s "One Human Family" ideal.
