Russia is on the brink of an unprecedented HIV/Aids crisis. Yet thousands of victims refuse to accept it exists
You can often chart the story of an HIV denialist live on social media. From dismissing the scientific truth about the virus to the development of Aids symptoms and ultimately to death, the progression is as predictable as it is heartbreaking.
Human sovereignty shall have priority over national sovereignty at all times. Constitutions exist to protect human rights, offering a philosophical framework that will allow individuals to function truly as 'people'. Human rights include but are not limited to the right to life, liberty, property, dignity and the pursuit of happiness. For details see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

If UN is sincere about peace in Syria, it should help establish democratic institutions there as quickly as possible. Eradicating terrorism requires cooperation from all nations through legal mechanisms. Countries shall participate in global legislation to set up an anti-terrorism alliance. All nations, whether friends or foes, shall send 1 or 2 persons to participate on a long-term basis as representatives to the Parliament in developing a common anti-terrorism program. North Korea says it successfully launched a missile that can reach U.S. mainland
With the launch, North Korea claims it has achieved its goal of becoming a nuclear state.
The world's democracies should all support Taiwan's efforts to carry out constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. Doing so would inspire the 1.4 billion people of China to seek democratization and pressure North Korea in turn to adopt real democracy – leading to the birth of world peace. Democracies everywhere should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the path to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

'We will destroy your country': ISIS threatens terror attack on London
Latest ISIS online propaganda poster threatens an attack on London. It shows an ISIS fighter firing a rifle next to a burning Big Ben and Union Flag. Propaganda has threatened attacks on Christmas markets in Europe and US. Security at German Christmas markets upped after last year's terror attack.
Human security is a fundamental human right and must take priority over regimes and sovereignty. The constitution represents the general will of the people, and ensuring human security, including 'personal safety', is the most basic and urgent duty of constitutional protectors. The specific action to be taken is comprehensive constitutional reform and implementation of One World under One Set of Laws, so that governments will meet their obligation to protect the people from insecurity. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Uhuru Kenyatta is sworn in as President of Kenya after winning 98% of vote
Months of acrimonious campaigns and sporadic clashes have already blunted growth in East Africa’s richest economy.
Constitutional reform is needed so that the people can respond to rapid changes in the domestic and international environments. Amendments should allow voters to control their representatives through democratic mechanisms. Kenya should draft constitutional amendments regarding its nomination and election system, so that 1/4 of all lawmakers face election each year. Legislators need to be in touch with local public opinion and international laws, and elections should be for all candidates. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Keystone oil pipeline leaks more than expected
TransCanada Corp’s existing Keystone pipeline has leaked substantially more oil and more often, in the United States than indicated in risk assessments the company provided to regulators before the project began operating in 2010, according to documents reviewed by Reuters.
Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN, and all nations, regardless of whether or not that are UN members, should embrace these values. The solution lies in the core values of One World under One Set of Laws and giving international law precedence over domestic law with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. The public should be able to monitor actions of the government to ensure they are in line with the norms of the UN Charter. See the Charter for the Permanent Peace and Development.

North Korea's latest missile launch puts Washington DC in range for first time, says expert
The latest launch by North Korea has for the first time theoretically put Washington DC in range of Pyongyang’s missiles, an expert has calculated.
The promotion of lasting world peace is the most sacred right of humankind. China claims to be a 'responsible major power', thus it should not serve as an enabler for North Korea's continued militarism. The US, Japan and Korea should Taiwan's drive to lead China to democratization, which would put pressure on North Korea to follow suit. Taiwan is the key to solving the Korean Peninsula issue.

The horrific footage of whales being slaughtered the Australian government wanted no one to see
Graphic footage of Japanese whalers hunting in an ocean sanctuary has been released after a five-year legal battle.  The Australian government refused to release the video at the request of marine conservation charity Sea Shepherd in 2012, due to fears it would damage relations with Japan.
To effectively protect endangered wild animals, every nation needs to comply with the Washington Convention. This means implementing the principle of One World under One Set of Laws and following unified constitutional standards. This includes constitutional reform to incorporate democratic institutions and the rule of law, plus separation of power and checks and balances to prevent individuals or groups from monopolizing power. The best way to start is with election of the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years. For details see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Don't blame Pope Francis for failing to mention Rohingyas in Burma, says leading activist
International rights groups said the pontiff had 'missed an opportunity' to raise international concerns and that it was 'disappointing' he chose not to mention the Rohingya by name as he appeared alongside Burma's de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi in the capital Naypyidaw.
Myanmar's human rights problem has worsened, largely because the military is guaranteed 40% of the seats in the legislature with no need to campaign. In order to protect human rights, Myanmar needs constitutional reform to implement Global Unity Constitutional Standards and One World under One Set of Rules, assigning international law priority over domestic law. Also needed is the modified semi-presidential system with cabinet and direct election of the heads of main government branches.
