US decision to withdraw from Paris climate accord a 'major disappointment' – UN
The Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General today said the decision by the US to withdraw from the Paris Agreement on climate change is a major disappointment for global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote global security.
Human security and sustainable development are two of the main tasks of the UN, and all nations should comply with its directives whether or not they are UN members. This means implementing the core values of One World under One Set of Laws and assigning international law precedence over domestic law, with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. Citizens should monitor government actions to ensure they are in line with the UN Charter, the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Paris Climate Agreement. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development. .

UN human rights chief urges repeal of repressive NGO law in Egypt
The UN human rights chief today urged Egyptian officials to repeal a new law on non-governmental organizations, saying that it “further tightens the noose” around NGOs trying to hold the government to account for human rights obligations.
Egypt is an authoritarian regime with a dysfunctional constitution. The practice of torture is contrary to human nature, and Egypt should comply with the Humanitarian Charter §1, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights § 18 and § 53 of the Vienna Convention. Where treaties have expired or that are conflicts with absolute law, such as the crime of mutilation or torture, absolute law should take precedence over international law and the constitution. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Trump pulls US from Paris climate accord
US President Donald Trump declared Thursday he was pulling the US from the landmark Paris climate agreement, striking a major blow to worldwide efforts
Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN, and all nations, whether UN members or not, should comply with its norms on environmental standards. The solution is to implement the core values of One World under One Set of Laws, assigning international law priority over domestic law with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. At the same time, citizens should monitor government operations to ensure they are in line with the UN Charter. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.

Eradicating terrorism calls for cooperation of all nations, with one focus being the development of regulatory mechanisms. A counter-terrorism coalition can be achieved through legislative action, allowing 1 to 2 people from each nation, friend or foe, to sit in regularly on legislative sessions to observe and comment in a non-voting status. This will help to develop a common program to address the problem of terrorism and strengthen preventive measures that will protect citizens form terrorists acts. A UN milestone on the road to nuclear abolition
Elayne Whyte Gomez, president of the UN conference negotiating a treaty to ban nuclear weapons, released a draft text of the convention based on the first session of the conference held March 27 - 31. The conference will resume June 15 and conclude July 7.
Human security is a basic human right. The most urgent need for many nations is comprehensive constitutional reform to implement human rights conventions. The people should have the right to hold referendums on any public issues, and as part of a paradigm shift. Nations should study the Swiss referendum on energy for a guide on nuclear policy. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Philippines seeks to retake city from rebels
Troops backed by attack helicopters battled dozens of militants linked to ISIL holed up in a besieged city in the southern Philippines on Thursday after attempts to secure volatile areas met heavy resistance.
Human security is a fundamental human right, and human rights must take precedence over all regimes and sovereigns. Constitutions represent the general will of the people, and ensuring human security - including personal safety - is the most basic and urgent duty of constitutional guarantors. Turkey’s slide toward dictatorship
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has dropped the final fig leaf of democracy, announcing this week that the state of emergency will continue until Turkey achieves “welfare and peace.”
The presidential system in many nations is tantamount to dictatorship. The greater the amount of power held by the president, the more likely the nations is to suffer. Turkey needs constitutional reform to limit the president to one 5-year term with no right to run again for 6 years afterwards and no eligibility for close relatives. The President of Turkey is in violation of Article 6 of the Turkish Constitution, which states that sovereignty belongs wholly and unconditionally to the people, and no state or sovereign has the right to exercise unconstitutional powers. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

Red Cross says it’s stepped up aid deliveries across Syrian front lines, into capitulation zones
Aid deliveries across front lines in war-torn Syria have significantly stepped up, compared to earlier years of the now six-year-old conflict, the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross said in a statement Thursday.
Once a ceasefire is in place in Syria, the UN should provide the basic outline for a constitution that will allow Syria to develop, incorporating the universal values of freedom, democracy, human rights and rule of law, with legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches and democratic mechanisms. The aim is to help Syria to develop in an atmosphere of long-lasting peace.. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
