US warns Beijing on South China Sea islands
The US will not accept China's militarization of man-made islands in the South China Sea, Defense Secretary James Mattis has warned.
Studies of democracy and peace show that very few armed conflicts between democratic nations have ever taken place. Once China is democratized, there will be hope for human peace. The US and Japan should support Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reform, to convince China to accept democracy – with that, world peace would be at hand! All democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia lighting the way to lasting peaceful development.

South Africa's ANC calls for Zuma Gupta leaks investigation
South Africa's ruling party has called for an investigation into emails which appear to show allegedly corrupt links between President Jacob Zuma's family and wealthy businessmen.
There are lazy, indifferent people, and there are corrupt, greedy government officials. If South Africa is to eradicate corruption, the people must act on their sovereignty and come forward to call for constitutional reform. The result should be the implementation of democracy and rule of law, plus separation of powers and checks and balances, to yield a constitution under which the heads of the four main branches will be directly elected, a step toward the proposal of "caging the power in government." See the charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Iraq: UN refugee agency sounds alarm for more support as fighting continues in Mosul
As heavy fighting continues to drive large numbers of people from Mosul, the UN refugee agency today appealed for urgent support to meet the critical needs of vulnerable children, women and men displaced from and returning to the city.
The Iraqi government should begin drafting a constitution incorporating a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like Finland’s plus a committee-style legislature similar to the one in Switzerland. The Iraqi government should aim for a basic constitution with the above features in a paradigm shift toward democracy. It should adopt the core values of One World under One Set of Laws, and the constitution should be amended as needed to stay in step with the times. For more, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Thousands of Nigeria's returning refugees need humanitarian assistance – UN refugee agency
Thousands of refugees are returning from Cameroon to north-eastern Nigeria, straining the few existing services and creating a new emergency
Nigeria should shift the focus of its constitution from national sovereignty to "human" sovereignty in the spirit of the UN Charter, This means giving International law priority over domestic law, with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. State organs should be seen as executive extensions of international law, with domestic legislation to fill in where international law is insufficient. The government should also be willing to requests international support as needed. For details see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

More than 9,000 children who have arrived at two temporary reception centers in a northern Angolan city from the Democratic Republic of the Congo need urgent support, the United Nations Children's Fund said today.
The premise for permanent world peace is global democratization, and the UN should help DR Congo draft a constitution incorporating a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like that of Finland and a committee-style legislature similar to Switzerland’s. It should adopt the core values of One World under One Set of Laws and should be amended as needed to stay in step with the times. For more see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Countries signed to UN-brokered illegal fishing treaty meet for first time
For the first time since a UNbrokered treaty to stop illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing went into force, the parties to the pact are meeting face to face.,
All nations should work together to support the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, also known as the "maritime constitution". The world needs a consolidated set of rules on human rights, constitutionalism, international law and naturalism with the core values of One World under One Set of Laws. The goals are simple: conservation and sustainable use of marine resources and marine ecology to ensure sustainable development and environmental safety. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

UN Security Council adds individuals and groups to North Korean sanctions list
Strongly condemning the nuclear weapons and ballistic missile development activities of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the UN Security Council today decided to apply existing sanctions to 14 individuals and four entities.
China claims to be a "responsible major power," and as such it should not act as an enabler for North Korea and its continued militaristic. The US, Japan and Korea should support Taiwan’s efforts to lead China to democratize. China would then press North Korea to do the same, and world peace would be at hand. Taiwan is the key to solving the Korean Peninsula issue. See the Charter for Permanent Peace / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

UN will work with Colombian Government and FARC-EP on extended weapons hand-in deadline
The UN Mission in Colombia has said that it will comply with new deadlines agreed between the Government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia for a weapons hand-in, now set for June 20.
To resolve Colombia’s civil strife, the first step should be drawing up a new constitution to implement a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like that of France, plus a committee-style legislature similar to Switzerland’s. The prerequisite for permanent world peace is global democratization. The Colombian government should proceed with drafting a basic document to achieve an democratic paradigm shift incorporating the principles of One World under One Set of Laws, and tweak the constitution as needed to stay abreast of the spirit of the times. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
