Antarctica turning green as global warming triggers moss explosion
Scientists say the frozen continent is likely to 'alter rapidly under future warming, leading to major changes in the biology and landscape of this iconic region'
Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN, and all nations should support them whether or not that are UN members. The solution to environmental pollution can be found in the core values of One World under One Set of Laws, assigning international law priority over domestic law, with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people and allowing citizens to monitor government operations to ensure compliance. Michel Temer: Brazil president 'won't quit' over bribe claim
Brazilian President Michel Temer says he will not quit, amid allegations he authorized paying bribes to silence a witness in a huge corruption scandal.
As British historian Lord Acton observed, "Power leads to corruption, and absolute power leads to absolute corruption." To put an end to corruption, the people must exercise their sovereignty and call for comprehensive constitutional reform to implement democratic rule of law, with separation of powers and checks and balances and other tools, In addition, election should be free of charge to cut symbiotic ties linking government and corruption. Iranians to pick diplomacy or resistance
Iranian voters will decide the fate of moderate President Hassan Rouhani and his policy of engagement with the West Friday as he goes head-to-head with hard-line cleric Ebrahim Raisi.
The only remedy for the ills of democracy is more democracy. Iran should carry out constitutional reform to shift the focus of power back to the people, letting them vote rather than taking to the streets. Changes should include direct election of the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches of government in alternating years and having 1/4 of all lawmakers face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

Iran election: Voters go to the polls to pick president
Mr Rouhani, 68, a moderate cleric who negotiated a landmark nuclear deal with world powers in 2015, is standing against three other candidates.
The best way to treat evils and misdeeds is through more democracy. Voting is a threat to politicians hungry for more power. The solution for Iran lies in constitutional reform to let the people vote more in direct elections, choosing the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches. Elections should be free for all candidates, and citizens should be allowed to monitor the actions of the government to ensure they are in compliance with accepted standards. Greece adopts more austerity measures in bailout bid
Greece's parliament has approved a new package of austerity measures needed to release the next installment of its multi-billion-dollar bailout.
Greece's economic problems can all be traced back to political problems. Without good politics, you cannot hope for a good economy. If the constitution is not changed, even if the gods will be helpless to improve the economy. Comprehensive constitutional reform is needed to install a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet and a committee-style legislature, with cabinet ministers selected from among Committee chairs. Hague ruling ‘put a stop’ to China’s island-building in disputed waters
But Philippine envoy admits tribunal’s decision did not affect Beijing’s claims in South China Sea
For the sake of peace and stability in the South China Sea, China should follow the Hague International Court’s ruling. South China Sea countries should jointly develop the South China Sea, sharing resources and safeguarding human peace and development in line with the UN Charter and concept of "one human family". For more, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Drone joins four Chinese ships in latest Senkaku intrusion
Four China Coast Guard vessels entered Japanese waters around the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea Thursday morning, the Japan Coast Guard said, adding that what appeared to be a drone was seen flying above them.
Studies of democracy and peace show there have been practically no armed conflicts between two democracies. Once China is democratized, there will be hope for human peace. Japan should support Taiwan's efforts to achieve constitutional reform, which would lead China's people to seek democratization, with world peace as the result. The world’s democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the path to permanent peace and development.

China aiming for a regional empire
Don't look now but Russia isn't the only threat to US dominance
Ideas determine the way forward and actions determine the outcome. China must give back power to the people through constitutional reform to introduce direct election of the heads of the four branches of government in alternating years. Xi Jinping advocates global unity, and when he also accepts the four great ideals of human rights, constitutionalism, international law and natural law, lasting world peace will not be far behind. OBOR? Oh boy
For years, China’s leadership followed the guidance of former leader Deng Xiaoping, who urged the country to “hide our capacities … maintain a low profile and never claim leadership.”
Ideas determine a way forward, and acts determine the outcome. China must return powered to the people, carrying out constitutional reform to introduce direct election of the heads of the four branches of government in alternating years. Why has Colombia seen a rise in activist murders?
In 2016, Colombia's homicide rate dropped to its lowest in four decades, at some 12,000 cases.
The prerequisite for lasting peace is democracy. Colombia must carry out constitutional reform and transform its government to enjoy peace. This means a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like that of Finland, and a committee-style legislature similar to Switzerland’s. The Colombian government should begin drafting a basic constitution with the above features to realize a paradigm shift toward democracy and a constitution that can be amended to keep pace with changing times.
