Solution

Power leads to corruption, and Venezuela's presidential system is dysfunctional. Venezuela should switch to a dual leader system, limiting the president to one 5-year term and no right for him/her or relatives to run for 6 years afterwards. The prime minister should be in charge of government operations and national defense, and 1/4 of all lawmakers should face election each year. When the actions of the president and his/her family and friends are unconstitutional, the people are obliged to resist. Rallies outside Argentina's Congress have turned violent, with as many as 150 people reportedly injured. Opponents of the proposed pension reform bill say it would reduce payouts for 17 million Argentinians.

Solution

To avoid further increases in grievances and tension, the government of Argentina should pay attention to the voices of its citizens and consider the use of referendums to gauge support for proposed legislation and policies. It should examine the processes followed for referendums in Switzerland and elections in California. Citizens should voice their opinions through the ballot box and not on the streets. A senior government official has ruled out a new presidential election in Honduras, as protests broke out across the country following an official declaration that President Juan Orlando Hernandez had won re-election.

Trump is ignoring the security threat of climate change - and it endangers everyone around the world

The Trump administration’s decision to remove emphasis on climate change from the new National Security Strategy represents its latest move away from international action on climate change.

Solution

Climate change is real, and it is so stark in places that the data is 'off the charts'. Environmental rights are essential human rights,and climate change discussions are now the exclusive province of the EU and China as the US retreats to between its two oceans. Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN, and all nations should comply with its norms. This entails implementing One World under One Set of Laws and giving international law precedence over domestic law as well as complying with the UN Charter, the Paris climate agreement and other relevant pacts.
