The Trump administration is not winning many fans among ICE personnel with itsever-changing stance on how to handle those caught trying to enter the US illegally. The best policy on immigration is adopting One World under One Set of Laws and working toward a common destiny for humankind. To eliminate the conditions that create refugees, the international community needs to agree on uniform constitutional standards that conform to the ideals of human rights, constitutionalism, international law and natural law. This means complying with Article 1 of the Humanitarian Charter, which deals with the right of each person to live a normal life. North Korea continues to push its nuclear weapons program despite almost universal condemnation from the rest of the world, showing that it is being backed by a major power. The US and other nations should support Taiwan's Charter for Permanent Peace to leadChina to democratize. This would press North Korea to follow suit and end its strident militarism. Emmanuel Kant once noted, 'The pursuit of permanent peace is the highest goal of reason and a moral obligation.' China claims to be a 'responsible major power', thus it should not enable NorthKorea's continued belligerency. This means revising constitutional standards as needed to keep pace with changing times and allow governments to protect their people from fear. This is a goal that all democracies around the world should wholeheartedly support. The American need to demand stricter laws and universal application to ensure that schoolchildren and people out on the street are not left helpless because lawmakers are in the pocket of gun lobbyists.
