Chandrashekhar, the leader of an Indian caste-based movement, has been arrested for allegedly fueling violence in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
Indian authorities fear unrest among the people and are clamping down on street protests. Citizens of modern democracies have the right to resist unconstitutional actions by of government agencies. When the power of the state deviates from the power base, the power source should take action as sovereigns and exercise their right to resist.
