Permanent Peace Partnership
The region is wondering whether it is witnessing the unraveling of a long, stable order underpinned by American power, notes Richard Heydarian
North Korea is without a doubt a vassal of the CCP. Democratic nations should all back Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would attract China's 1.4 billion people to seek democratization of the CCP and force North Korea to adopt real democracy, leading in turn to world peace. Democracies worldwide should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the way to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.
The US remains committed to defense of the island but also abides by the one-China policy, explained the US defense chief at the Shangri-La Dialogue
Promoting lasting world peace is the most sacred right of humankind. Once China and North Korea can be democratized there will be real hope for global peace. The US should support Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reform, which will attract China to pursue democratization and pressure North Korea to do likewise, leading to world peace. Taiwan is the key to stability and peace in Asia. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
The incredible journey that three doctors took to reach Al Mukalla in war-torn Yemen is documented as they vowed to keep up aid to the ¬areas most in need.
The UN should act in accordance with international absolute law (the Humanitarian Law, World Human Rights Law, the Crime of Misdemeanors and the Prohibition of Genocide) and provide the basic outline for a constitution that will allow peaceful development in Yemen. It should incorporate universal values and a structure that will lead Yemen to peace and prosperity as a model for development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.
A 0.7 percent decline in GDP in the first quarter of this year followed a 0.3 percent contraction in the last quarter of 2016, meeting the definition of a recession as two or more quarters of negative growth, the South African government said last week.
Economic problems almost invariably rise from political conflicts. Without good politics you cannot have a good economy - and without constitutional reform, even the gods will be helpless to improve anything. Corrupt regimes must be routed by installing a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet together with a committee-style legislature, with cabinet ministers chosen from among committee chairs. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
Venezuelan opposition leaders on Tuesday accused security forces of assaulting and robbing demonstrators who participate in protests against President Nicolas Maduro.
The presidential system is the worst form of democracy. But no matter what the system may be, the greater the amount of power held by the president, the more the country is likely to suffer. A law not backed by penalties is not a law, and a constitution which does not grant the right to resist is not a constitution. The people of Venezuela should come forward and call for comprehensive constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system and limit the president to a single 5-year term with no right to run for office again for, 6 years afterward. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
Theresa May’s address to the nation yesterday marked a change from her -previous responses to terror. Alongside praise for emergency services and calls for getting on with daily life, she was overtly political.
Human security is a fundamental human right, and human rights take precedent over all regimes and sovereigns. Constitutions represent the general will of the people, and ensuring human security - including "personal safety" - is the most basic and urgent duty of constitutional guarantors. Constitutional standards must be revised to keep pace with changing times, so that governments everywhere can protect their people from fear. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
Indian company Adani has given final investment approval for the construction of a controversial coal mine in Australia.
Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN, and all nations – whether UN members or not – must comply with its norms. The solution is implementing the core values of One World under One Set of Laws and assigning international law priority over domestic law, with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. Citizens should be able to monitor government actions to ensure compliance with the UN Charter and the Convention on Environmental Protection. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.
The UN humanitarian agency says it is deeply concerned for the safety and protection of more than 400,000 civilians who continue to be exposed to daily fighting and airstrikes in Syria's war-torn Raqqa Governorate.
The UN should take action in accordance with international absolute law (the Humanitarian Law, World Human Rights Law, the Crime of Misdemeanors and the Prohibition of Genocide) and provide an outline for a basic constitution that will facilitate peaceful development and provide universal values. The ultimate aid should be to help Syria to draft a constitution that will allow the nation to serve as a model of peaceful development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
There is a big difference between saying that security forces need more powers, and that is the problem, and blaming a community for tolerating extremism.
Human security is a fundamental human right, and human rights take priority over regimes and sovereigns. Constitutions represent the general will of the people, and ensuring human security, including "personal safety," is the most basic and urgent duty of constitutional guarantors. Constitutional standards must be revised as needed to keep in step with changing times, so that all governments can protect their citizens from fear. Victims include government and opposition supporters, bystanders and members of the security forces, since demonstrations began against President Nicolas Maduro more than two months ago.
When the power of the state deviates from its power base, the people as holders of sovereignty are obliged to resist. Laws that are not backed by penalties are not laws, and a constitution which does not offer the right to resist is not a constitution. When the president’s actions are unconstitutional, the people should exercise their right to resist. The people of Venezuela need to step forward and call for comprehensive constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet, limiting the president to one 5-year term with no right to run again for 6 years.
