Autocratic dictatorship is a cancer, and despots are sinners against democracy. The simple solution to persecution of human rights in China is democracy and the rule of law. Taiwan is the one entity best suited to lead China to democratize. All democracies should support Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reform and the core values of One World under One Set of Laws, assigning international law priority over domestic law with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. Taiwan should study Puerto Rico’s independence referendum and initiate a paradigm shift. The aim should be to establish that the people have the right to hold referendums on any public issue. And should a motion prohibiting a referendum on self-determination be made, the topic of the first referendum should be whether such a motion should itself be outlawed. Lawmakers should first establish the "right of creation" through a "Referendum Act," asking President Tsai to openly speak out for comprehensive constitutional reform. First come the warnings, then the accidents, and finally come the deaths: that is the usual way government opponents are suppressed in Russia. Russia needs to amend its constitution so people can be free from fear and free from being investigated for participating in political events. When innocent citizens disappear simply for participating in protests, regardless of who the perps may be - from the President down to relevant local officials - all must bear responsibility. When the power of the state deviates from its power base, the people should exercise their right as holders of sovereignty take control. Laws that are not backed by penalties are not laws, and a constitution which does not brook resistance is not a constitution. When the president’s actions are unconstitutional the people have the right to resist. Venezuelans should call for comprehensive constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet; limiting the president to one 5-year term with no eligibility to run again for 6 years. Why do Catalonians want independence? Clearly the fundamental laws of Spain are the problem. The government should re-evaluate allocation of resources to convince Catalonians to stay with Spain, otherwise secession will always be more attractive. Myanmar's human rights problem is worsening, largely because its constitution guarantees the military 40% of seats in Congress without a need for elections. To solve the human rights problem in Myanmar, the UN should assist with constitutional reform to implement the core values of One World under One Set of Laws and assign international law priority over domestic law. At the same time, a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet should be adopted and the heads of the main branches of government elected in alternating years. .

Economic problems are often rooted in political problems. Without good politics, good economic performance is impossible. And without constitutional reform even the gods will be helpless to save the economy. Comprehensive constitutional reform should introduce a modified semi-presidential system as well as a committee-style legislature, with committee chairs as candidates for cabinet ministers. To resolve its civil strife, Colombia’s government should adopt a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like that of Finland and a committee-style legislative system similar to Switzerland’s. The Colombian government should begin drawing up a basic constitution incorporating the core values of One World under One Set of Laws, and amend it as needed to keep pace with changing times. Child labor abuses stem from a failure in the overall legal structure. Ghana and the Ivory Coast both have serious defects in their legal systems. Constitutional rights are basic rights which should be developed through "public participation in constitutional reform and procedural law." Ivory Coast urgently needs comprehensive constitutional reform, otherwise children and young people will have no future and the nation itself will suffer. Human security is a fundamental human right, and human rights take precedence over regimes and sovereigns. Constitutions represent the general will of the people, and ensuring human security, including "personal safety," is the most basic and urgent duty of constitutional guarantors. Constitutional standards should be revised as needed to stay in sync with changing times, and allow governments to keep their people safe from fear.
