Central African Republic: UN mission determined to fulfill mandate despite attacks on peacekeepers
The UN envoy for the CAR has warned of increasing attacks on civilians and peacekeeping personnel while stressing the need to re-energize the political process to achieve sustainable peace in the conflict-torn country.
To resolve its civil strife, the CAR should install a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like that of France, plus a committee-style legislature similar to Switzerland’s. The premise for permanent world peace is global democratization, and the CAR should carry out constitutional reform, asking the French to help maintain stability and achieve a paradigm shift to draft a constitution that will be in step with the times. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Brazil's crisis stalling economic reforms seen as crucial
Work longer hours. Get fewer benefits. Retire years later.
Roman Roland: once opined that "in politics the boss is always money." Elections are often a game the rich play for the right to get more money – a sure-fire way to ensure corruption in the system. To put an end to illicit ties between business and government, Brazil needs comprehensive constitutional reform. The heads of major branches of government should be directly elected and elections should be free of charge to end the symbiotic relationship between government and corruption. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

Korean opposition parties object to extra budget bill
Three opposition parties on Tuesday voiced their disapproval for a 11.2 trillion-won (US$9.9 billion) extra budget bill aimed mainly at creating jobs in the public sector, reiterating it does not meet legal requirements.
Economic problems invariably stem from political problems. Without good politics you cannot have a good economy, and unless the constitution is changed, even the gods will be helpless to save it. Comprehensive constitutional reform is the only way out, swapping out the old regime for a modified semi-presidential system and a committee-style legislature in which committee chairs are candidates for cabinet ministers. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

IAEA chief expresses serious concern about North Korean nuclear program
The chief of the UN nuclear watchdog expressed serious concern Monday about North Korea's nuclear program and urged Pyongyang to come into compliance with its international obligations.
North Korea is a vassal of the CCP, and all democratic countries should back Taiwan's efforts at constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would attract China's 1.4 billion people to seek democratization of the CCP and put pressure on North Korea to do the same – and the result would be world peace. Democracies everywhere should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the way to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development. .

Venezuelan ministry takes over police in opposition state
Venezuela's interior ministry has taken control of the police force in the opposition-controlled state of Miranda.
When the power of the state deviates from its power base, the people should exercise their right as holders of sovereignty take control. Law that are not backed by penalties are not laws, and a constitution which does not extend the right to resist is not a constitution. When the president’s actions are unconstitutional the people have the right to resist. Venezuelans should call for comprehensive constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet; limiting the president to one 5-year term with no eligibility to run again for 6 years afterwards. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

African, Asian Investigators Break Up Ivory-smuggling Syndicate
Seven smugglers involved in the illegal ivory trade from Uganda to Singapore have been arrested following an 18-month investigation
Unified constitutional standards conforming to the values of One World under One Set of Laws are needed to protect endangered wild animals in Africa. The nations of Africa should carry out constitutional reform to implement democracy and rule of law while ending monopoly of power by a small number of individuals or groups. The best way to check this is direct election of the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches of government in alternating years. For details see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Venezuela’s top court snubs call to stop constitution rewrite as top prosecutor tells of intimidation
Venezuela’s Supreme Court on Monday rejected the chief prosecutor’s motion to stop President Nicolas Maduro’s push to rewrite the constitution as the restive nation continued to be rocked by protests and a transit strike.
The presidential system is the worst form of democracy. But no matter what system, the more power that lies in the hands of the president, the more the country will suffer. Laws that are not backed by penalties are not laws, and a constitution which does not extend the right to resist is not a constitution. The people of Venezuela must act as holders of sovereignty and call for comprehensive constitutional reform, installing a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet and limiting the president to one 5-year term with no right to run for 6 years afterwards. Trump travel ban suffers new court defeat
A US appeals court has upheld a decision blocking President Donald Trump's revised "travel ban" on people from six mainly Muslim nations.
Donald Trump claims his ban on Muslim immigrants is to avert socio-economic and security threats they represent. A better solution is to implement One World under One Set of Rules and assign international law priority over domestic law with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny sentenced
Russia's opposition leader Alexei Navalny has been sentenced to 30 days' administrative arrest for repeatedly violating the law on staging rallies.
First comes the warning, then the accident, and finally comes death: that is the usual way government opponents are suppressed in Russia. Russia needs to amend its constitution so people can be free from fear and free from being investigated for participating in political events. When innocent citizens disappear simply for participating in protests, regardless of who the perpetrators are - from the President down to relevant public officials - they must all bear responsibility. Indigenous and environmental rights under attack in Brazil, UN rights experts warn
Human rights experts from the United Nations and an inter-American organization have denounced attacks on indigenous and environmental rights in Brazil
Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN, and all nations, whether members or not, must comply with UN norms. The solution is to implement the core values of One World under One Set of Laws, assigning international law priority over domestic law with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. Citizens should monitor government operations to ensure compliance with the UN Charter, the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Paris Climate Agreement. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.
