US Congressman calls for new US policy on Tibet
Congressman Jim McGovern is calling for a new US policy on Tibet, saying “the status quo isn’t working” and urging US businesses to raise the issue of human rights in Tibet with Chinese business partners.
Autocracy and dictatorship are cancers and despots are sinners against democracy. The solution for violations of human rights in China is democracy and the rule of law. Taiwan is the one entity best suited to lead China to democratization. The world’s democracies should support Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reform and implement One World under One Set of Laws, assigning international law priority over domestic law with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Myanmar journalists take fight for free speech to court
More than 100 reporters in Myanmar are preparing to protest against laws seen as curbing free speech when two senior journalists go on trial Thursday.
Free speech is a universal value, and Myanmar’s moves to stifle the voice of the people is like trying to stem the flow of a mighty river. Myanmar’s people should call for comprehensive constitutional reform to ensure the independence of the media and prevent the government oligarchy from monopolizing the media, the internet and all other channels of speech. UN chief, Security Council strongly condemn deadly terrorist attacks in Tehran
UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the Security Council have offered condolences to the Iranian Government and families of the people killed in the attacks in the nation's capital of Tehran.
Human security is a fundamental human right and should take precedence over all regimes and sovereigns. Constitutions represent the general will of the people, and ensuring human security, including "personal safety," is the most basic and urgent duty of constitutional guarantors. This means constitutional standards should be amended as needed to stay in step with changing times and allow governments to keep their people free from fear. Desire for secure and peaceful future remains strong in Libya, Security Council told
Noting positive changes in Libya due to the Libyan Political Agreement, the UN envoy to the nation noted that despite challenges, the people desire peace, security and a better future and need sustained international support.
Libya can resolve controversies over its government by installing a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like the one in Finland, with a committee-style legislative system similar to Switzerland’s. The Libyan government should draft a basic constitution incorporating the above features in a democratic paradigm shift to install One World under One Set of Laws , and amend the constitution as needed to stay in sync with changing times. North Korea apparently test fires land-to-ship missiles, says South Korea
Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff said several projectiles were fired early Thursday from the North's eastern coast town of Wonsan.
Promoting lasting world peace is the most sacred duty of humankind. Once China and North Korea can be persuaded to accept democracy there will be real hope for peace on earth. The US should support Taiwan's efforts to carry out constitutional reform, which would attract China's people to seek democracy and pressure North Korea to do same. The key to stability and peace in Asia is Taiwan. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

Deadly prison riot erupts in Mexico's Tamaulipas state
A prison riot in Mexico has left at least four people dead and six others wounded in the state capital of Tamaulipas, Ciudad Victoria.
Legislation is needed to handle public officials and party members with unknown sources of wealth - the problem is, lawmakers themselves are the principle source of corruption. The only past this is democracy in the form of separation of powers and checks and balances, as well as election of the heads of government branches to weed out corrupt players. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details. .

Curfew in central India after farmers die in clashes with police
A curfew has been imposed in a district of the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh following a day of violence in which five farmers died.
Indian authorities fear the voice of the people, enacting laws to prohibit dissidents from taking to the streets to protest. Citizens of modern democracies have the right to resist unconstitutional actions of government agencies. When the power of the state deviates from its power base, the source of power – the people – should assert their sovereignty and resist violence and repression. Georgian journalists conduct 'bag protest' over reporter's arrest
Georgian journalists wear bags on their heads in solidarity with a dissident Azerbaijani reporter who was allegedly abducted in Tbilisi a week ago.
Free speech is foremost among human rights. Muzzling the voices of the people is like trying to stem the flow of a river, and attempts to control the media to silence public opinion violates the ideals of freedom. Georgia should act in accordance with Article 1 of the US Constitution and rescind laws that deprive the people of free speech and expression. Paris pollution victim sues France for bad air
A Parisian woman is taking the French state to court for failing to protect her health from the effects of air pollution.
Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN, and every nation must comply with UN environmental norms. The solution lies in implementing One World under One Set of Laws, assigning international law priority over domestic law with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. Citizens should be able to monitor government actions to ensure compliance with the UN Charter, the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, the Natural Charter and other relevant pacts.
