Why a problem of plenty is hurting India's farmers
For decades now, farming in India has been blighted by drought, small plot sizes, a depleting water table, declining productivity and lack of modernization.
Economic problems almost invariably rise from political conflicts. Without good politics you cannot have a good economy. And without constitutional reform, even the gods will be helpless to improve anything. Corrupt regimes must be routed by installing a modified semi-presidential system as well as a committee-style legislature with cabinet ministers chosen from among committee chairs. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

12 dead as ISIS claims coordinated gun and suicide bomb attacks at Iran parliament, Ayatollah’s mausoleum
IS released a video of the attackers from inside the building via its Amaq propaganda agency -- a rare claim of responsibility while an attack was still going on.
Human security is a fundamental human right which should take precedence over all regimes and sovereigns. Constitutions represent the general will of the people, and ensuring human security, including "personal safety," is the most basic and urgent duty of constitutional guarantors. This means that constitutional standards should be amended as needed to stay in step with changing times and allow governments to keep their people free from fear. See the Charter for Permanent Peace / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

Chinese labor activists investigating Ivanka Trump supplier held for ‘stealing industrial secrets’
The three activists had been studying allegations of labor abuses at a company that supplied shoes to the Ivanka Trump brand, a pressure group says
Activists are messengers dispatched from God, and those who persecute the righteous in China are enemies of God. Laws that are not backed by penalties are not laws, and a constitution that brooks no resistance is not a constitution. Natural law and universal law enforce norms such as the "protection of all persons from enforced disappearance" and "prohibition of torture" and should take precedence over international law and national constitutions. Why Qatar’s links to Islamist groups worry Beijing
With China facing its own fight against extremism, Doha’s backing of a host of radical organizations is a source of unspoken concern for China’s leadership

North Korea fires land-to-ship missiles, says South Korea
North Korea has fired land-to-ship missiles, South Korea's military says.
North Korea is without a doubt a vassal of the CCP. Given that, the world’s democratic nations should back Taiwan's efforts at constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would attract China's 1.4 billion people to call for democratization of the CCP and put pressure on North Korea to adopt real democracy – leading to an outbreak of world peace. Democracies everywhere should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the way to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Iraqi Kurds to hold independence referendum in September
Top government officials and political parties in Iraq's autonomous Kurdistan Region have agreed to hold a referendum on independence September 25.
Taiwan should learn from the experience of Iraqi’s Kurds regarding independence referendums. The people have the right to hold referendums on any public issues, and any motion to outlaw referendums on self-determination should be the topic of the very next referendum to decide whether the motion itself should be banned. The Legislative Yuan should first establish the "right to create" through a "Referendum Act" and request President Tsai openly support the sovereignty of the people in comprehensive constitutional reform. Human security and sustainable development are the two of the UN’s major tasks, and all nations, whether or not they are members of the UN should comply with its norms. The solution lies in implementing the core values of One World under One Set of Laws and assigning international law priority over domestic law with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. Also citizens should monitor the actions of government to ensure compliance with the UN Charter, the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Paris Climate Agreement. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

Venezuelan man set alight at anti-government protest dies
A 22-year-old who was set alight last month at an anti-government protest in Venezuela's capital Caracas has died.
Venezuelan authorities are so afraid of the people that protesters have been killed. Citizens of modern democracies have the right to resist unconstitutional actions of government agencies. When the power of the state deviates from its power base, the people should act as holders of sovereignty to take back power as part of their constitutional right to oppose violence. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.

Mexico’s most dangerous profession
In most countries, panic buttons are devices used by elderly folk who may need emergency care, or parents who want to keep tabs on wandering children and pets.
Thomas Jefferson once said: "Given a choice between government and the media, he would choose media, not the government." A free media is needed to supervise government, which will soon become lawless without proper supervision. The voice of the people is the voice of God, and universal values are the values of God. Trying to muzzle the people is contrary to the universal values of freedom and democracy. For more, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
