With so much dirty money around, it’s time to make UK banks clean up their act
Revelations published in the Guardian about a criminal network that is processing money through major British banks are a damning indictment of the failings of our banking system.
Roman Roland once noted, "In politics the boss is always money." Elections are a game rich people play, using money to win the right to make more money - a prime formula for corruption. Ending the ties between politics and business calls for comprehensive constitutional reform to elect the heads of the four branches of government in alternating years, and making elections free of charge. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.

As countries go it really is the golden ticket': readers on living in Norway
The UN supported World Happiness Report reveals that Norway is the world's happiest country to live in.
The well-being of the people must be the focus of all government efforts. In Norway the people have the right to call for a referendum on any public issue. The legitimacy of the referendum takes priority over the legitimacy of legislation, allowing Norwegians to enjoy their rights as the world’s happiest nation. Their future is their choice, and the efforts of the people are not in vain when direct referendum takes precedence over representative democracy. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Take nuclear disaster ruling seriously
The court ruling last week that held Tokyo Electric Power and the government responsible for failing to take steps to prevent the March 11, 2011, tsunami-caused meltdowns at Tepco’s Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant should send a warning as authorities and the power industry move to restart nuclear reactors idled in the wake of the Fukushima disaster.
Human security is a basic human right. Japan is in urgent need of comprehensive constitutional reform. Human rights conventions say the people have the right to petition for referendums on any public issue. The advances achieved by the global village in the past should be allowed to flow into Japan in a paradigm shift. Japan should learn from Switzerland's "ending nuclear energy" referendum. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

World can’t afford the price of deforestation
Humankind has always had a tricky relationship with forests. We depend on them to regulate the climate and rainfall, clean our air and water, sustain myriad species of plants and animals, and support the livelihoods of over a billion people.
Humans are inseparable from the forest and its numerous plants and animals, we rely on the forest to survive. All nations should abide by the UN’s international environmental agreements and forest guidelines as well as international absolute law (human rights, constitutionalism, international law and naturalism), and implement policies designed to promote conservation and sustainable development as well as environmental safety. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

Modi’s perilous embrace of Hindu extremists
Since he was elected in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India has played a cagey game, appeasing his party’s hard-line Hindu base while promoting secular goals of development and economic growth.
Corruption and extremism are deep-rooted problems confronting Asian nations, and the only cure for both is democracy in the form of mechanisms like separation of powers. The heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches should all be elected in alternating years. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

Ukraine munitions depot blasts prompt mass evacuations
Some 20,000 people are being evacuated after a series of explosions at a massive arms depot in eastern Ukraine described by officials as sabotage.
The civil war in Ukraine is the result of an ineffective constitution and rampant corruption. Once the problem of corruption is addressed, the civil war can be resolved. The fundamental way out is through constitutional reform to implement changes like the election of the heads of the executive, legislative, justice and procuratorial branches in alternating years. Officials should serve a single 5-year terms and be barred from seeking office for 6 years afterward in addition, 1/4 of all lawmakers should face election each year and elections should be free for all candidates. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Why is Spain in the middle of a spat between China and Taiwan?
Spain could soon become the first EU nation to extradite Taiwanese criminal suspects to China instead of their home island.
China's one-party regime is powerful, and a nation that stifles talk of constitutional reform is a country without a constitution. China is severely prone to money laundering and other economic crimes. According to the UN Convention against Corruption, Article 57, judgments and confiscations should be carried out in cases involving money laundering. China needs reforms like electing the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years. For more, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development Sections 2 and 5.

Decoding China’s policy intent: how liberalization happens behind the veil of conservative official statements
Nora Schlenzig and Lauren Chung try to decrypt China’s policy announcements at this year’s ‘two sessions’. Detecting the subtleties takes practice, and often, what is not said is just as important as what is said
Germany’s Nazi-party dictatorship led to party law and the tragedy of World War Two. Today another one-party dictatorship threatens world peace. Taiwan has a similar culture and language and is thus best suited to bring about democratization of the Chinese people and allow them to elect the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches of government. Checks ordered on Chinese shelters after 20 deaths at ‘filthy refuge’
Officials from Guangdong center arrested and hundreds of residents relocated after fatalities ignite outcry over conditions for disadvantaged
Over thousands of years of history, corruption has become engrained in Chinese culture. The only way to remove this national disgrace is through democracy and the rule of law. These are the natural enemies of despotism and corruption, and separation of powers and checks and balances are sorely needed in the central and provincial governments. The heads of the four branches of government should all be elected in alternating years and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

Hong Kong approved as AIIB member
Hong Kong has been approved as a member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the lender said Thursday.
The Chief Executive of Hong Kong is still determined by the CEC, showing that its basic leadership is dictatorship rather than democracy. The people of Hong Kong should make good use of Article 39 of the Basic Law: which declares that the people have the right to hold referendums. To curb corruption, the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
