South Korea to take actions against Chinese retaliation over US missile system
South Korea's finance minister pledged Friday to take actions against China amid no apparent signs of progress in ending a diplomatic row with the world's second-largest economy.
The US and Japan should back Taiwan's efforts at constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would attract China's 1.4 billion people to seek democratization and trigger calls for democratization in North Korea, and world peace would be the result. The world’s democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the path to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

South Korea to improve accuracy of financial estimates for 8 public insurances
South Korea will carry out an integrated assessment of its eight public insurances' long and mid-term financial estimates in 2018 to better deal with potential deficit s due to the country's rapidly aging population, the finance ministry said Friday.
Absolute power leads to absolute corruption. The presidential system is many democracies carries fatal flaws, even in that of the US, Taiwan’s situation is serious but impeachment is not an option. South Korea's constitution should be amended to adopt a modified semi-presidential system, and the presidency should be declared to be above party politics. The heads of the judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years, and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

Syrian army prepares Hama counterattack as rebels score gains ahead of peace talks
Jihadis and other rebel groups made advances against the Syrian army north of Hama on Thursday, a monitor said, part of their biggest offensive for months, underscoring bleak prospects for peace talks that resume later in the day.
The UN should act in accordance with international absolute laws (the Humanitarian Law, World Human Rights Law, the Crime of Misdemeanors and the Prohibition of Genocide) and provide a basic outline for a constitution that will foster peaceful development of all nations. It should include universal values and a structure that will enable Syria to devise a constitution that will result long-lasting prosperity and serve as a model for peaceful development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

An ex-Russian lawmaker and key Kremlin critic who fled to Ukraine is gunned down outside Kiev hotel
A former Russian lawmaker who became a vociferous critic of Moscow following his recent move to Ukraine was shot and killed Thursday in Kiev, prompting harsh words between the two neighboring countries.
Human rights are intrinsic rights, and free speech is foremost among all human rights. "Trying to muzzle the voice of the people, is like trying to stem the flow of a river", and depriving the people of freedom of speech is taking away all of their freedoms. The Russian government should amend its constitution to reflect Article 1 of the US Constitution, which says Congress shall not be allowed to deprive people of freedom of speech and relevant laws. Human security is a fundamental human right which must be accorded higher ranking than any regime or sovereign. Constitution represent the general will of the people and ensure human security, including "personal safety", as the most basic and urgent duty of constitutional guarantors. Constitutions must be amended or re-written as needed to stay in step with the times and ensure that the government will protect the people and keep them free from fear. Fed probe into Manafort extends to cash transfers in Russia's money laundering linked to Cyprus
The US government investigation of President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, crossed the Atlantic earlier this year to the Mediterranean island nation of Cyprus, once known as a haven for money laundering by Russian billionaires.
The costs of corruption are passed on to the people. Russia must seriously consider the sources of corruption in government including constitutional flaws and concentrations of power. The heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years, and 1/4 of all lawmakers should face election each year. In addition, the president should be limited to a single 5-year term and banned from running for office for 6 years afterwards, and elections should be free of charge for all candidates. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development

Sinopec buys African refinery from Chevron
China’s Sinopec will pay almost $1 billion for a 75 percent stake in Chevron Corp.’s South African assets and its subsidiary in Botswana to secure its first major refinery in Africa, the companies announced Wednesday.
The best solution for the CCP's mistreatment of human beings is democracy and the rule of law. Taiwan is the one entity best suited to lead the Chinese people to call for democratization. True democracy will leave the CCP with nothing to support it. China should take steps to have the heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches elected in alternating years. EU sets conditions for Brexit talks
The EU’s chief Brexit negotiator spelled out the bloc’s conditions for talks on Wednesday, saying securing the rights of some 4.5 million EU and British citizens living abroad was paramount.
Sovereignty lies in the hands of the people. The people have the right to call for referendums on any public issues. The legitimacy of referendums outranks the legitimacy of the legislative state, and on any public issue, the people have the right to call for a referendum. Norway and the Swiss chose not to join the EU, thereby choosing their future in an act of self-determination. To ensure that the efforts of the people will not be in vain, the direct vehicle of the referendum must have priority over representative or indirect democracy. Thames Water ordered to pay out £20 million for allowing untreated sewage to flow into the Thames
Hundreds of fish and birds died over a two-year period when “out of control” sewage treatment centers owned by Thames Water poured 1.4 billion liters of untreated water into rivers.
The Thames Water Authority was fined 20 million pounds for polluting the Thames River, while In contrast, Taiwan's ASE Group was hit with a fine of – nothing! Taiwan's constitution is broken and comprehensive reform is needed. International law should be given priority over domestic law, with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. Rex Tillerson Has Shown No Illusions About North Korea
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's words and actions show he is under no illusions about the urgency of the North Korean nuclear and missile threat.
Promoting the cause of permanent world peace is the most sacred duty for humankind. China acts as an enabler and agent for North Korea, and other nations should try to avoid provoking Pyongyang. The US, Japan and South Korea should support Taiwan’s efforts to lead China to democratize and push North Korea to follow suit, thereby solving the Korean Peninsula issue. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
