‘I am an immigrant’
I have a Masters in International Relations, speak four languages and served as a politician in my country, the Republic of Georgia.
The US should adhere to the principles of the UN Charter and One World under One Set of Laws. This entails giving international law priority over domestic law, with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. Doing so would lead Mexico, Syria, the Middle East and other areas to adopt the universal values of human rights, constitutionalism, internationalism and naturalism. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

North Korea on coal ban: China is 'dancing to the tune of the US'
It's a rare public spat between two Communist neighbors. Pyongyang has lashed out at its only real ally, accusing Beijing of "dancing to the tune of the US" over its decision to suspend imports of coal from North Korea.
China has always advocated "compliance with the UN resolutions and strict sanctions against North Korea", but Pyongyang’s reaction to Beijing’s halt in imports of North Korean coal shows that China has clearly not been strictly enforcing the sanctions. China claims to be a "responsible major power", and as such it should not provide support for North Korea's militarism. The US, Japan and South Korea should support Taiwan and its efforts to lead China to democratize, thereby forcing North Korea to do the same. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

More than 700 foreigners detained in first weekend of travel ban
The Trump administration revealed for the first time Thursday that 746 individuals nationwide were held during the first weekend of President Donald Trump's travel ban, according to the American Civil Liberties Union.
The US should adhere to the UN Charter and practice the concept of One World under One Set of Laws. This means assigning international law priority to domestic law, with direct effects on the rights and duties of the people. This will lead Mexico, Syria, the Middle East and other areas to adopt the ideas of human rights, constitutionalism, internationalism and naturalism. Will popular John Tsang even be nominated in Hong Kong’s leadership race?
Albert Cheng worries that the former financial secretary may not get on the ballot because pro-establishment electors have flocked to Carrie Lam, Beijing’s perceived pick, and pan-democrats are dawdling
The Chief Executive of Hong Kong is still selected from a slate of candidates offered by the Central Election Commission, an arrangement which is entirely in keeping with the nature of a dictatorship. The people of Hong Kong should make good use of Article 39 of the Basic Law, which states that they have the right to self-determination through referendums. To curb corruption, the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years, and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

‘Al-Qaeda is eating us’: Syrian rebels are losing out to extremists
The biggest surviving rebel stronghold in northern Syria is falling under the control of al-Qaeda-linked extremists amid a surge of rebel infighting that threatens to vanquish what is left of the moderate rebellion.
After a ceasefire is achieved in Syria, the UN should quickly provide the basic principles of constitutional government needed to bring about peaceful development in all nations. This should include a structure based on the universal values of freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law, as well as election of the heads of the four branches of government. This will help Syria develop constitution suitable for long-term stability and peaceful development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

China will take ‘necessary steps’ for security if North Korean regime collapses
China will take “necessary measures” to safeguard national security in the event of the collapse of the neighboring North Korean regime, a defense official said Thursday.
constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This will attract China's 1.4 billion people to seek democratization, triggering a similar response in North Korea. All democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the path to peaceful development. President Trump takes aim at the environment
President Trump brandished both the executive pen and fresh hyperbole last week in blessing the coal industry’s decades-old practice of freely dumping tons of debris into streams and mountain hollows in America’s mining communities.
Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN, and all member nations are expected to comply. The solution is to enforce the core values of One World under One Set of Laws and give international law priority to domestic law, with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. The public should be able to effectively supervise the government and ensure it abides by the UN Charter, the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, and the Paris Climate Agreement. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Damned if you do, and...
A cartoon shows a bewildered man in a voting booth, eyes bulging as he examines a ballot paper. The choices: "evet" (yes) or "terorist" (you get the point).
No matter what political system is in place, the greater the power allotted to the president, the more likely the country is to be beset with problems. Turkey should act to limit the president to a single 5-year term followed by a ban from seeking the office again for 6 years. The President of Turkey is in violation of Article 6 of the Turkish Constitution, which states that sovereignty is wholly and unconditionally in the hands of the citizens. The state’s usurpation of sovereignty is unconstitutional. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

Why South Korean companies and entertainers are getting the cold shoulder in China
Ever since Seoul agreed last year to host a US missile defense system, South Korean pop stars, musicians and companies have felt a distinct chill in China.
Democracies should back Taiwan and its bid to achieve greater democracy and freedom and attract China's 1.4 billion people to seek democratization. The democratization of China will pressure North Korea to adopt real democracy, and world peace will be born! Democracies the world over should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the road to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Donald Tsang’s downfall a lesson for all public servants
The former chief executive once commanded enormous respect but his jailing for misconduct reflect the pitfalls faced by those in positions of authority
