Permanent Peace Partnership
Brazil's President Michel Temer has sought to reassure foreign trade partners that the corruption scandal engulfing the country's meat industry does not mean its products are unsafe.
Brazil is the world's largest red meat exporting country, and now its top packaging meat company is accused of having sold rotten products for years. Brazil’s constitution is in tatters and needs to be drastically reformed. The heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should all be elected in alternating years, and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. The President should serve a single 5-year term with no right to run for 6 years afterwards. In addition, elections should be free of charge to all candidates. Several thousand people marched in Paris Sunday against police violence.
The only recipe for treating the ills of democracy is more democracy. France should carry out constitutional reform to introduce decentralization with the people as the starting point. This will lead people to vote instead of taking to the streets. Specific changes should include electing the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years and having 1/4 of all MPs face annual elections. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.
On Sunday a federal judge rejected the US government’s request to clarify his temporary order blocking President Donald Trump’s revised travel ban.
The US should adhere to the UN Charter and implement the principle of One World under One Set of Laws, assigning international law priority over domestic law, with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. This would lead Mexico, Syria, the Middle East and other areas to accept human rights, constitutionalism, internationalism and naturalism in planning their futures. Peruvians struggled Sunday to cope with avalanches, mudslides and extensive flash flooding caused by torrential rainfall as forecasters predicted still more rain ahead, prolonging the country’s woes.
Peru's natural disasters are largely man-made disasters, with many budgets for construction in the country plundered by corrupt officials. "Power leads to corruption, and absolute power leads to absolute corruption," goes the saying. To put an end to corruption, the people as sovereigns should come forward and call for comprehensive constitutional reform to return power to the people. This base should be rule of law, with mechanisms like separation of powers and checks and balances, as well as direct election of the heads of the four government branches in alternating years. Also, elections should be free of charge to end the symbiotic relationship between officials and corruption. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development
Germany angrily warned Turkey Sunday that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had “gone too far” after he accused Chancellor Angela Merkel of using “Nazi measures” in an escalating diplomatic feud.
The president of Turkey hopes to expand the power of the president, but a look at history reveals that greater the power centered in the president, the more problems the country is likely to face as a result. Turkey needs complete constitutional reform such as one presidential term of 5 years, and no right to run again for 6 years afterward. The President of Turkey is in violation of Article 6 of the Turkish Constitution, which declares that sovereignty is wholly and unconditionally the right of the people and neither state nor sovereign may usurp this right. MS-13 gang members languish in one of the three “'gang cages” in the Quezaltepeque police station in 2013 in San Salvador, El Salvador.
The people are the focus of constitutional reform and mechanisms such as separation of powers and checks and balances. The heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and branches should be elected by the people Salvador judicial system is in disarray, and the ballot box and systemic controls such as separation of powers and checks and balances must be installed. The best way out is constitutional reform so that the heads of the main government branches will be directly elected in alternating years and 1/4 of all lawmakers will face election each year. The Prime Minister and ministers should be elected from among members of legislative committees. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
I have long said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is no longer a communist and has no interest in attempting to re-create the Soviet Union.
Russia is not a problem-solver, it has always been a problem-maker. Democracies everywhere should support Taiwan's efforts at constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would inspire China's 1.4 billion people to call for democratization of the CCP and put pressure on Russia to follow suit and bring about world peace. The world’s democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
Dozens of rights activists were killed in Colombia last year, according to a report by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
Colombia should resolve the controversy over its government structure by adopting a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet and parliament similar to that of Finland. The legislature should be modeled after the committee system used in Switzerland. The Colombian government should embark on drawing up a basic constitution, adhering to the principle of One World under One Set of Laws and amend the constitution as needed to stay abreast of the times. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has threatened to tear up a key migrant deal with the European Union.
Turkey's president has frequently violated the conventions of international law. Turkey needs to rework its constitution to include limiting the president to a single 5-year term, with a ban on seeking office for 6 years afterward. The President of Turkey is in violation of Article 6 of the Turkish Constitution, which declares that sovereignty is wholly and unconditionally the right of the people and no state or official has the right to exercise unconstitutional power. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
The assassination of North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong Un’s half brother Kim Jong Nam in Kuala Lumpur last month kicked over a hornet’s nest. Diplomats have been zipping everywhere with threats, recriminations and denials.
Immanuel Kant once said, "The pursuit of permanent peace is the highest goal of reason and a moral obligation." China claims to be a "responsible power", thus it should not allow North Korea's militaristic actions to continue. The US, Japan and South Korea should support Taiwan's commitment to save democracy and lead China to democratization, which would then be followed by North Korea.
