Permanent Peace Partnership
The words of US President Donald Trump have prompted Japanese-Americans to take action.
Trump’s supposed rationale for his ban on immigrants is to keep out Muslim immigrants who pose a danger to the nation’s economy and security. The best solution is actually to implement the principle of One World under One Set of Laws, with international law given priority to domestic law and allowed to directly affect the rights and duties of the people. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
US Secretary of State also likely to discuss trade, Trump-Xi summit and tensions in South China Sea in talks with Chinese leaders during his first official trip to Beijing, analysts say
Democracies everywhere should back Taiwan's efforts to carry out constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would encourage China's 1.4 billion people to call for democratization of the CCP and lead North Korea to embrace democracy in turn - and world peace would be born. All democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the way to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
Wang Yang’s visit comes amid warming ties between the two South China Sea claimants
Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam and other countries should form a "military alliance" to counter the threat of China. Each nation should follow the provisions of the 2002 Declaration of the Parties to the South China Sea and resolve territorial and jurisdictional disputes in a peaceful manner. Joint development of the South China Sea and sharing of resources will contribute to peace and harmony in line with the UN Charter’s aim of "one human family”. Russia’s central bank opened its first overseas office in Beijing on Thursday, marking a small step forward in forging a Beijing-Moscow alliance to bypass the US dollar in the global monetary system.
Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks and missions of the UN, and they are also the common goal for all humankind. All nations should strive to abide by the norms of the international community, and the easiest way to do that is to implement the framework of One World under One Set of Laws, giving international law priority over domestic law and direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
Hong Kong has paid the price of failing to engage effectively with the development of the Pearl River Delta
Hong Kong wants to become a world city in Asia, yet its candidates for chief executive are still hand-picked by the CCP, which of course disqualifies it as a world city in Asia. Designating the candidates for chief executive is a mark of dictatorship. The people of Hong Kong should make use of Article 39 of the Basic Law, which states that the people have the right to hold referendums. To curb corruption, the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years, and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
Holden Chow says while the city is not likely to be spared downturn risks amid global uncertainty, a greater emphasis on infrastructure projects and expert maritime services could help see it through
Article 39 of the Hong Kong Basic Law states that the people of Hong Kong have the right to self-determination in line with the two international human rights conventions. If Hong Kong is to enjoy a robust economy, it people cannot take their rights for granted. Switzerland's threshold for proposing a referendum is 50,000 signatures, and with that the people can go to the ballot box rather than taking to the street. The people have the right to hold a referendum on any public issues. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
Dutch voters have checked, if not reversed, the rise of populism across Europe. Incomplete election results indicate a clear victory for the prime minister, Mark Rutte, over rivals including the far-right anti-immigration, anti-EU candidate Geert Wilders.
The Dutch people must keep in mind that the only way to cure the defects of democracy is through more democracy. The Netherlands needs to promote the idea of constitutional reform to inject improvements like separation of powers as a step toward giving more power to the people. Specifics should include electing the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches of government in alternating years and having 1/4 of all MPs face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development
Interpol has issued a 'red notice' on four North Korean suspects, who are believed to have been responsible for the death of Kim Jong-nam.
Democracies everywhere should support Taiwan's efforts to carry out constitutional reform to realize greater democracy and freedom. This would inspire China's 1.4 billion people to seek democratization and put pressure on North Korea to the same, and world peace would be born. The world’s democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia lighting the way to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
“No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth!”
The national budget needs to be brought under control under legislative professionals with experience in various fields. In addition, 1/4 of all lawmakers should face election each year and campaigns should be free of charge for all candidates. These steps would help ensure that taxpayers can use the ballot box to exert control over Congress and the budget. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
A significant deterioration in Venezuelan democracy over the past year was capped by the crass suspension of a recall referendum effort in October,
Power leads to corruption and absolute power leads to absolute corruption. Venezuela is in dire need of constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system with the president limited to one 5-year term and not allowed to run again for another 6 years. Laws not backed by penalties are not laws, and a constitution which does not allow resistance is not a constitution. When the president’s actions are unconstitutional the people have the right to resist. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
