Seething Scots from every constituency have signed a petition demanding another independence referendum launched by Nicola Sturgeon “should not be allowed to happen”, figures have shown.
Taiwan should learn from Scotland’s experience with independence referendums and act to achieve a paradigm shift to make sure the people have the right to hold a referendum on any public issue. When a motion to block a referendum is raised, the next referendum should decide whether the motion itself should be outlawed. Lawmakers should first establish the "right of creation" for the Referendum Act and ask President Tsai to openly confirm the sovereignty of the people through comprehensive constitutional reform.
