Venezuela protests: Teenage protester in Barquisimeto killed
A teenage demonstrator has been killed during growing unrest in Venezuela, as political and economic crisis deepens.
The personal safety of dissenters in Venezuela must be protected. The ruling authorities cannot be allowed to play the ‘security card’ and use fear to stifle opposition. Venezuela needs constitutional reform to make it clear that all public authorities are subject to checks and balances. Members of the Electoral Commission should come from at least three unaffiliated groups or organizations, and the number of members from any given party shall not exceed one-fourth of the total. In addition, any conflicts of interest involving members must be resolved. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development

Beijing bans property ads promising high returns and good feng shui
Online property portals in Beijing have been forced to remove "illegal information" in an attempt to curb rising prices in the capital.
China hopes to revitalize its economy and control the real estate boom at the same time. This calls for a careful look at the source of corruption: the lack of a viable constitution. The entire governing system needs changes such as election of the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches and having 1/4 of all lawmakers face election each year. Top officials should be limited to one 5-year term and not allowed to run again for 6 years afterwards, and elections should be free of charge for all candidates. For details see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Hong Kong women penalized for living longer: enquiry into annuity scheme discrimination
Under the proposal unveiled by the Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation, women would receive a smaller monthly payout than men because they tend to live longer
Tax revenues should be used for peaceful and non-aggressive purposes and to solve fundamental problems. This can be accomplished by following the principle of One World under One Set of Laws and building a common destiny for all humankind. This should prompt Hong Kong to recognize that international law takes priority over domestic law and directly effects the rights and duties of the people. European court to rule on 2004 Beslan siege
The European Court of Human Rights is due to rule on whether the Russian government should have done more to prevent the 2004 Beslan school siege in which more than 300 people died.
The European Court of Human Rights should address the fundamental issues based on the principle of One World under One Set of Laws and working toward a common destiny for humankind. This will prod Russia to recognize that international law takes precedence over domestic law with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. The European Convention on Human Rights should be followed in assisting Russia to raise its standards of human rights to the highest international standards. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

A first-world city with third-world air quality’: Hong Kong loses ground in expat liveability ranking
Singapore takes the top spot globally and regionally for the 16th year in a row
Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN. If Hong Kong is to solve its problems with air pollution it needs to implement the core values inherent in One World under One Set of Laws, assigning international law precedence over domestic law, with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. Citizens shall be able to directly monitor the actions of government to assure that they abide by the UN Charter and other norms. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Carrie Lam’s realistic ideas for improving Hong Kong will soon be put to the test
Bernard Chan says it is important that the incoming Hong Kong government delivers results that will make real improvements to people’s lives, to build confidence for bigger changes ahead
In 1997 China pledged that Hong Kong will remain unchanged for 50 years, but the 2047 deadline is already being hedged. Article 39 of the Hong Kong Basic Law protects the right of the SAR’s people to self-determination, and they have the right to call for referendums on any public issues. The people of Hong Kong should adhere to the rights assured under these conventions and petition for referendums to decide their future. Otherwise when dictatorship becomes a reality, the people will be obliged to resist. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Why everybody missed in calling the bond market
‘This would not be the first time that investment strategists calling an end to the 30-year-long bull run for fixed income misjudged the market’
Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks and missions for the UN, and they are also a common goal for humankind. All nations should strive to abide by the norms of the international community. The way to do this is by implementing One World under One Set of Laws and assigning international law priority over domestic law, with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

China’s nuclear escape clause over defense of North Korea
Beijing is not obliged to defend Pyongyang as the North's development of nuclear weapons breaches a mutual defense pact, experts say as US warns it may launch a strike against North Korea
The world’s democracies should all support Taiwan's efforts at constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would inspire China's 1.4 billion people to call for democratization of the CCP, and North Korea would then follow suit, leading to the birth of world peace. All democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the way to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

The weight of expectation is on Carrie Lam’s shoulders
She has to defend the interests of the nation and the city, improve people’s livelihoods and complement national development. This will not be easy, but she has full support from Beijing
The Chief Executive of Hong Kong is still selected by the CEC, which is merely another form of dictatorship. The people of Hong Kong should make good use of Article 39 of the Basic Law, which states that the people have the right to call for referendums. To curb corruption, the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years, and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

Innocents incarcerated: How the Kafkaesque nightmare of wrongful imprisonment is all too real
It is one of the worst nightmares imaginable: to be convicted of a crime you did not commit, to spend years and even to die behind bars, innocent. Believed by no one. Yet it happens all the time. What’s to stop it happening to you? Nothing, says Andy Martin
Governments sometimes force innocent people to disappear. A law that is not backed by penalties is not a law, and a constitution that does not countenance resistance is not a constitution. When governments violate the constitution, the people must resist. Natural law and general international law include the protection of all citizens from enforced disappearance and prohibition of torture. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
