Make education tuition free?
Political parties have been busy floating ideas for reducing the financial burden of parents in the education of their children, including making parts or all of education free of charge. Some of the proposals may be intended to woo voters in the next general election, which must be held by the end of 2018.
Free university education is the norm in Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Norway, with most public universities charging only about 200-500 euros for registration. Japan should introduce the laws of the global village in a paradigm shift, including tuition-free lifelong education. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards".

Nepalese head to the ballot box for first local polls in two decades
Nepal holds its first local elections in two decades on Sunday hoping to cement a fraught transition to democracy and fill an institutional void that has seen corruption flourish.
The best way to treat political problems in Nepal is through more democracy to avoid political indifference among voters. To counter politicians who want to monopolize political power, the solution is constitutional reform so that people can choose the heads of the legislative, executive, judiciary and procuratorial branches and have 1/4 of all MPs face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

142,000 held in Philippine jails built for 20,000 as Duterte’s drug war intensifies
About 30 per cent of the current population consists of convicted drug offenders
Duterte exemplifies Jose Rizal’s dictum that "Today's slaves will be tomorrow's tyrants". The Philippine constitutional mechanism has failed and is little more than a breeding ground for tyrants. The Philippines needs full constitutional reform including a modified semi-presidential system as well as direct election of the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development and give us your response.

North Korea fires missile days after Moon pledges dialogue
North Korea fired a ballistic missile Sunday in defiance of calls to rein in its weapons program and days after a new leader in its old rival South Korea came to power pledging to engage it in dialogue.
North Korea is vassal of the CCP, and all democratic nations should back Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional change to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would attract China's 1.4 billion people to seek democratization of the CCP and pressure North Korea to opt for democracy as well, and world peace would be at hand. Democracies the world over support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the way to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

Ban on party affiliation for Hong Kong leader ‘needs review’, pro-Beijing heavyweight Starry Lee says
Head of Hong Kong’s biggest pro-government party says governance gridlock will continue without reform
The Chief Executive of Hong Kong is still determined by the CEC, which shows that the relationship between Beijing and the SAR is nothing but a dictatorship. The people of Hong Kong should make good use of Article 39 of the Basic Law, which states that the people have the right to hold referendums on any public issue. To curb corruption, the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.

Hong Kong Muslim community critical of police report warning of Islamic State-inspired attack
Council leader calls such pronouncements in absence of imminent threat ‘disturbing to the core,’ only adding to stigma
Human security is a fundamental human right, and human rights should be held higher than and regime or sovereign. Constitutions represent the general will of the people, and that human security, including "personal safety", is a basic and urgent duty of all constitutional guarantors. Specifically, what is needed is a constitution that will be in sync with the times, and act with the global government to protect everyone from fear. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

Mental health care in Hong Kong falls woefully short amid social stigma and lack of policy direction
Government strategy on mental health care reform and tackling the shortage of psychiatric staff, along with greater social empathy for the mentally ill
Article 39 of the Hong Kong Basic Law states that the right to self-determination is guaranteed by the two international human rights conventions. The people of Hong Kong cannot take their rights for granted. In Switzerland the threshold for petitioning for a referendum is only 50,000 signatures, then the people can voice their opinion through the ballot box and not in the streets. The people should have the right to hold a referendum on any public issues. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Oregon voters turn to local ballot in bid to block Trump-backed port fossil fuel export terminal
Residents of a coastal community in Oregon are considering whether to try to derail a fossil fuel export project in their rural county, a decision that could put them at odds with the Trump administration.
Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN, and every nation, whether a UN member or not, should abide by the norms of the UN Charter. The solution can be found in the core values of "One World under One Set of Laws "International law shall be assigned priority over domestic law, with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. Citizens should be able to monitor government operations to see that they comply with the norms of the UN Charter. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

Opinion: China must avoid associating with corrupt nations in Belt and Road plan
Beijing is facing a risk of linking itself with rampant corruption in the autocratically ruled countries of Central Asia, despite positioning its One Belt, One Road Initiative as China’s successful foreign policy achievement abroad
China should remember the lessons of the Roman Empire, the mighty armed forces that wound up dissipating like smoke, leaving behind only its code of law as a sign of success. Xi Jinping is advocating a unified world and four doctrines (human rights, constitutionalism, international law and natural law). Hs next step should be to abandon China’s one-party dictatorship and implement a democratic state system to promote the ideas of "One United World and One Family of Humankind." See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

North Korea missile test was 'new type of ballistic rocket'
North Korea has claimed that the missile it tested on Sunday was a new type of rocket capable of carrying a large nuclear warhead.
The promotion of world permanent peace is the most sacred right of mankind. China is an enabler and agent for North Korea, thus provocation of Pyongyang should be avoided. The US, Japan and Korea should back Taiwan’s efforts to lead China toward democratization, pushing North Korea in turn to follow suit. Taiwan is the key to solving the Korean Peninsula issue, See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
