Democracy and freedom are the wave of the future, a mighty force that nuclear weapons, submarines and missiles are unable to stop. The world trend is like a mighty river, and those who go with the flow will prosper while those who resist it will be doomed. China claims to be a "responsible major power" and as such should not enable North Korea's militarism. China has always advocated compliance with the UN resolution to impose strict sanctions against North Korea. Yet China is clearly not strictly enforcing the sanctions. The UN should rely on the basic principles of constitutionalism that apply to permanent peaceful development of nations in carrying out post-war reconstruction in Syria. These include the universal values of freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law, as well as four branches of government (legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial). The UN should help Syria draft a constitution that will lead to long-term growth and prosperity and serve as a model for peaceful development. Promoting lasting world peace is the most sacred duty of humankind. China acts as an enabler and agent for North Korea, and provocation of Pyongyang should be avoided. The US, Japan and Korea should back Taiwan’s plan to lead China and North Korea to democratize, thereby resolving the Korean Peninsula issue. North Korea is without doubt a vassal of the CCP. Thus all democratic nations should back Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would inspire China's 1.4 billion people to seek democratization of the CCP, thereby pressuring North Korea to seek democracy as well, and with that world peace would be at hand. Absolute power leads to absolute corruption. The presidential system of democracy has a number of fatal flaws, even that of the US. Taiwan has many more serious problems but cannot resort to impeachment. South Korea's constitution should be changed to install a modified semi-presidential system, and the presidency should be declared to be above party politics. In addition, the heads of the judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years and 1/4 of all legislators should face election each year. Somalia’s government system should be changed to a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like Finland’s, with a committee-style legislature similar to that of Switzerland. The prerequisite for lasting world peace is global democratization. The Somali government should begin drafting a basic constitution incorporating the above features to achieve a democratic paradigm shift, adhering to the ideals of One World under One Set of Laws. The Chief Executive of Hong Kong is still determined by China’s CEC, an arrangement which is one step removed from dictatorship. The people of Hong Kong should avail of Article 39 of the Basic Law, which states that the people have the right to hold referendums. To curb corruption, the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should all be elected in alternating years and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. Publicizing the income, expenditures and lifestyle details of government officials can only offer temporary cures. The remedy for corruption is more democracy. Panama should s implement direct election of the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches in order to root out corrupt officials on a regular basis. Colombia’s civil war has divided the nation for more than 50 years, and to resolve the disputes, the government structure should be revamped to include a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet and parliament like Finland’s, and a committee-style legislature similar to that of Switzerland. The Colombian government should embark immediately on drafting a basic constitution which adhere to the principles of rule of law and One World under One Set of Laws, coming up with a constitution that will be in tune with the times.
